The communication group has a long history, as early as the Exchange5.5 of the mailing list and group concept, but there is no association between the two, from the beginning of Exchange2000, Microsoft has deliberately made changes, mailing lists and groups closely combined. An administrator can assign an e-mail address to a group, and the address becomes a mailing list, sending a letter to the list, in which all incoming mail objects include mailboxes, contacts, and so on. Having a distribution group makes it easy for administrators to manage mailing lists, allowing users to save time and reduce the chance of errors while sending messages.

In Exchange Server2010, it is divided into static distribution groups and dynamic distribution groups of two. The so-called static distribution Group is to designate its members need managers to manually manage, when a member to join or exit the need for the administrator to make changes in a timely manner. Members of a dynamic distribution group can be aggregated automatically based on conditions set by the administrator. A dynamic distribution group is a mail-enabled Active Directory group object that contains all the recipients of the properties in Active directory that match the group filter. If you modify the recipient properties to match the filter, the recipient may inadvertently become a group member and begin to receive messages sent to the group. It is important for an administrator to define the filter criteria to reduce the chance of such problems occurring.

New Distribution Group:

Generally speaking, the distribution group defaults to the static distribution group, so let's take a look at how to create a new static distribution group by using the EMC Management Console or EMS command, where we use the EMC graphical interface. Open the EMC Management Console--recipient configuration--distribution group, and you can right-click New distribution group as shown in the following illustration:

After the new Distribution Group wizard appears, select New group, and the group type selects distribute, specifies the organizational unit instead of the default value, and specifies "Uec.com/branch". This distribution group is created in the Branch organizational unit, which can include all objects containing messages in AD DS. The name is "branch Office" and the alias is "Branch", as shown in the following illustration:

Then click "New" and "Finish" to complete the creation of the static distribution group, but this distribution group has no members, we need to manually add the appropriate users. The method is to right-click on the group name, open the property, switch to the Members tab, and select all users from the list that you want to add to the group. As shown in the following illustration:

Test: This distribution group will have an e-mail address with the name: Branch@uec.com. Let's send a test message to this address to verify that all four users in the group receive it. Send a test message to this address in the name of Yuere, as shown in the following illustration:

We then look at the mailboxes of the administrator, Dufei, Xhl, and LSJ in turn, as shown in the following illustration:
