The J2ME extension of the
oracle9i JDeveloper provides integration between JDeveloper and a wide variety of J2ME-compatible wireless kits.


to use this extension, you need:





1. Install at least one wireless Toolkit (wireless kits) on your machine





2. Set up extension
in JDeveloper

How does it work it works

The purpose of the
J2ME Extension (j2me extension) is to provide an existing seamless connection between wireless toolkits and JDeveloper, and will also promote the integration of any new J2ME-compliant toolkit. JDeveloper will develop J2ME projects like any Java project before, and will communicate with wireless toolkits to provide features that wireless toolkits can provide, such as project steps, running, and debugging.


Installation Installation


Download:


the extension jar file for 902 (j2meextension_jar.zip) The extension jar file for 903 (J2meextension903_jar.zip) The SC Ripts (bin.zip) The Help file (j2me_jar.zip) sources (j2me.zip)


we assume that JDeveloper has been installed in [Jdev_home].





1. Extract the j2meextension_jar.zip containing J2meextension.jar to [Jdev_home]\jdev\lib\ext





2. Extract the text containing the script (Bin.zip) into a new folder, but not necessarily in the [jdev_home] directory tree.





· Extract the contents of the file containing Help (J2me_jar.zip) to [Jdev_home]\jdev\doc\ohj





· Edit [jdev_home]\jdev\doc\ohj\helpbooks.properties file name, the entry file book.numfiles increased by 1. Note that the value is 1 larger than the filename at the end of the file.





· #Book. Numfiles = 56





· Book.numfiles = 57





adds an entry for the J2ME help Jar at the back:





book.filename.56 = J2me.jar





 





3. If JDeveloper is currently running, please exit first.





4. Start JDeveloper.


J2ME Wireless Toolkits


now many providers offer J2ME Wireless toolkits to help develop J2ME applications. Any J2ME toolkit can be integrated into jdeveloper through this extension. The toolkit that can be consolidated includes the following:

Communication between
JDeveloper and Wireless Toolkit is resolved through scripting. JDeveloper needs to locate a specific directory for each toolkit in your system, with 3 scripts that cannot be changed:
