I will give you a detailed analysis of the performance optimization skills for Photoshop software users.
Tutorial sharing:
I. File size and size
As a UI designer, the file format used by the author is PSD. To ensure Image compatibility, Adobe limits the size of the PSD file to a maximum of 2 GB. When PS runs slowly, the first thing you need to do is check the file size. If each screen of your application is in the same PSD, the file size can be determined very quickly, especially when you want to add a layer combination.
In versions later than Photoshop CC 14.2, the "link to smart object" function is added to PS, which allows your application to use multiple files, in the long-term update process, a lot of trouble is removed. At present, I started to use this function to break some designs. It not only keeps PS running smoothly, but also allows me to design every screen of the application more flexibly.

In addition to PSD, Adobe also limits the size of other file types. If no file exists, it can be larger than x pixels, and the PDF file size cannot exceed 10 GB. However, there is no need to worry about using large PS file formats. The size of these files is limited to 4 EB (4000000 MB ).
II. Efficiency indicators
It is very easy to know how many system resources your PSD occupies.
There is an indication at the bottom left of the PS work area to reflect the current file information. By default, it displays "file size", such as "12.5 M/M. At this time, you can click the symbol "efficiency", which is like the playback button, to customize the display content according to your preferences, including "efficiency.

After the "efficiency" display is called up, the "efficiency: 100%" is usually displayed ". When the value is less than 100%, it means that you do not allocate enough memory to PS. At this time, PS will call disk space to support operation, and PS Image processing will naturally slow down. If you see that this value is already lower than 90%, you should allocate more memory to PS. Of course, here we will explain in detail later.
However, if you are working in full screen mode, this indicator will be hidden, but we can view relevant information through the information panel.

In addition, there are two ways to release some memory:
1. Clear "restore", "clipboard", and "history" (Edit> clear> All)
2. Close all files you are not using Now
Note: Although this function is very effective, it is irreversible. If you think that you may want to restore the image to the image in a previous step, you just need to clear the clipboard.
3. Mac OS X-Mavericks users: disable App Nap
If you use a large number of automatic tasks or actions, you will find that PS runs very slowly. Why? The reason is that the Mac OSX 10.9 feature is called "App Nap. In fact, this function is very useful at the beginning. It can help you save power when you perform multi-task processing. However, this feature is not a good partner for PS.
But it does not matter. We can disable it by taking the following steps:
1. Right-click the PS icon in the Finder;
2. Select "show introduction ";
3. Check whether there is a small check mark before "Prevent App Nap.

IV. Disable thumbnails
When you make changes to files in PS, the layer panel on the right of PS will display a layer thumbnail. Although the layer thumbnail helps us preview the layers of the work, it will actually slow down the PS. I personally think that the layer thumbnail function is quite useless, so this function is almost never enabled.
Some netizens may be confused. They don't want to know the specific content of a layer only when a layer is clicked after thumbnails are disabled, but in fact, when you name each layer/group, the significance of the thumbnail is actually not big. After the thumbnail function is disabled, the PS operation speed can be much faster, which is best reflected when processing large files with over multiple layers. Especially when your layers cannot keep up with the speed of moving your mouse and arrow, Please disable thumbnail now!
To disable a thumbnail, follow these steps:
1. In the upper-right corner of the layer window, click "renew;
2. Find "panel options"
3. Select "close" in the "thumbnail" option ".
PS performance optimization preference settings
After introducing the general PS performance optimization skills, let's take a look at the PS performance optimization preference settings. In fact, preference settings have a greater impact on the PS running speed and efficiency. Whether you use PS to process photos or design the UI, you only need to set the PS preference settings, and the PS operation is definitely different.
Taking the author as an example, I am now using a 15-inch Retina screen MacBook Pro with a built-in 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB memory and Nvidia GeForce GT W.M graphics card. Here, I will introduce how to adjust the PS preference settings based on my own hardware conditions. If you are a netizen, you must adjust your PS preferences based on your hardware.
I. Memory usage
This principle is simple. The more memory we allocate to PS, the faster the PS runs. It depends on how much memory you allocate to PS.
By default, PS usually occupies 70% of the memory. If your memory is only 4 GB, I suggest you use 32-bit PS to avoid insufficient memory.
I am very generous in the allocation of PS memory, and allocated 98% of the memory to it, while the remaining memory is enough to run Slack and Airmail. Of course, my assignment does not necessarily apply to everyone. You need to make a decision based on your PS running requirements and hardware conditions.
Available memory: note that not all your computer memory is mentioned in this article, but the remaining memory is removed from the basic requirements of the operating system.
II. History and cache
History and cache depend entirely on how you use PS. It is very important to optimize the history and cache based on your workflow.
1. Is it small, traditional, or simple?
Small and complex: like the author, if your work documents are mostly small and contain too many layers, you can set your cache level to 2, set the size of the collage to 128 KB.
Big and simple: if you are a photographer, you can better use this setting because it is designed for images with extremely large pixels and few layers. You can set your cache level to 6 and the size of the collage to 1024 KB.
Default: of course, if you are not a professional PS user and there is no special distinction between image processing, you can use the default settings.
2. What is the cache level and cache collage size?
Cache-level settings allow a low-resolution version for the saved image, so the overall operation speed will be faster when the high-resolution version is drawn. If your PS files are large and contain fewer layers, you can set the cache level to 8. But for my personal work, I set 2.
The size setting of cache collage determines how much space PS processes data. When using psto process complex images, large cached collage sizes can speed up the operation, but the display on the screen may be relatively slow, depending on how you are used to the software.
3. Historical status
When you change your PS document, the PS will be saved so that you can cancel some steps. The Historical Status setting is the number of steps in the operation that you want to save. If each historical state is saved, the cached disk space will be affected. When the cached disk space is insufficient, the PS running speed will naturally slow down.
By default, the historical status is generally set to 20, followed by the last 20 steps to save. However, as far as the author is concerned, I hope to have more room for maneuver. Therefore, I set 100 according to my work flow and usage habits.

III. Cache disks
Cache disks are used to temporarily store PS files. Generally, the faster the speed of the cache disk, the better. Ideally, an SSD is the best. However, this kind of professional setting is suitable for those who often process large images.
IV. Graphics processor settings
The graphic processor not only activates more PS functions, but also enhances the PS interface. First, make sure that a graphic processor is used. This can be viewed in the lower right corner of the performance settings window.
Next, change the GPU settings. The "advanced settings" on the GPU settings panel has three options to determine the GPU you are using. Of course, each option has its own advantages and disadvantages. You need to set it based on your usage habits and workflow. For the author alone, it is best to set the drawing mode to "advanced.
Finally, I would like to add that the last sentence is the simplest and most important. If you want to make your PS truly fly fast, and then perform the above performance optimization settings based on your workflow and usage habits, remember to restart PS. Otherwise, these PS performance optimization settings will not take effect.
All right, the above information is the detailed performance optimization tips provided by the editor for all Photoshop software users. All of them can see the software users here, I believe that everyone is very clear about the optimization skills, so everyone should follow the tips shared above to optimize the Photoshop software.
