Linuxaid.com.cn site's latest information: in less than a month after IBM took the title of the world's fastest supercomputer, NEC began to build a faster and more powerful computer system to win back the title. It is expected that the new system of NEC will be put into use in December.
The computer system of the Code SX-8 launched by NEC has the fastest computing capacity of TB per second. This was confirmed by NEC spokesman Susumu Sakamoto. This computing capability is almost twice the maximum computing power of the Blue Gene supercomputer launched by IBM in September. The latter can be calculated 36 TB per second.
But Sakamoto also cautiously said that the SX-8's computing power is just an estimator, the final effect depends on the system operation.
Three models of SX-8 will be put into use, according to another report. Two types of Single-node, one type of multi-node. The so-called TB computing capability refers to the highest level of multi-node systems. The maximum number of nodes will reach 512.
According to NEC, after the system is put into use, the rental fee for a single node per month is 1.17 million yen, equivalent to 14.8 thousand USD. Currently, no fees for renting other units are provided.
