Firefox 3 surpassed IE7 to become Europe's largest browser software

According to foreign media reports, StatCounter, a market research company, said on Tuesday that Firefox 3 browser of the Mozilla Foundation last week replaced Microsoft IE 7 as Europe's largest browser software, microsoft lost its leading position in the browser market for the first time in years.

Firefox 3 Shares 35.05% in the european browser market last week, surpassing 34.54% of IE 7. In a statement, Aodhan Cullen, chief executive of StatCounter, said, "Firefox 3 exceeds IE 7 in part because a small number of IE 7 users have switched to IE 8, this is partly due to the growth in Firefox 3's market share. Data shows that Firefox is rapidly narrowing the gap, and its market share in Europe is only 10 percentage points behind IE ."

StatCounter said that in February, the global market share of IE 7 was 41%, and Firefox 3 was 24%.
