In fact, you don't have to worry because we still have some ways to fix damaged documents and restore text in damaged documents.
The following is a detailed procedure.
1 Use special repair function
① on the File menu, click Open.
② in the Look in list, click the drive, folder, or Internet location that contains the file you want to open.
③ in the Folder List, locate and open the folder that contains the files.
④ Select the file you want to restore.
⑤ Click the arrow next to the Open button, and then click Open and Repair. Open and Repair is a feature that is available in Word 2002/2003, and if the method still does not open the damaged document, or if you are using Word 97/2000, try the following methods.
2 Extraction Writing method
① on the Tools menu, click the Options * General tab.
② confirm the Confirm conversion on open check box is selected, and then click OK.
③ Click the Open button on the Standard toolbar.
④ in the File type box, click Restore text from any file.
⑤ Open the document as usual.
After you open the damaged Word document using the above methods, if the contents of the document appear confusing, continue with the following work.
3 Transform Document Format
Transform the Word document into another format, and then transform it back into the Word document format. This is the simplest and most complete method of document repair, please try this approach all the time.
① open a corrupted document in Word.
② on the File menu, click Save As.
③ in the Save as type list, click Rich Text Format (*.rtf), and then click Save.
4 Paste As New document
Word Associates Various formatting information with the last paragraph mark in the document, especially the formatting of sections and styles. If you copy everything except the last paragraph mark to a new document, it is possible to leave the corrupted content in the original document.
In the new document, reapply the formatting of all the missing sections or styles. The way to select all content except the last paragraph mark is: On the Tools menu, click Options * Edit, clear the Use smart paragraph selection check box, click the OK button, and then press the "Ctrl+end" key combination, and then press the "Ctrl+shift+home" key combination.
5 Renaming templates
1. Word stores default information in the "Normal.dot" template file, and if the file is corrupted, Word documents may also be problematic. The steps to create a new Normal template are as follows:

7. After you create the new Normal template, you can try to open the corrupted document. If the problem is resolved, it indicates that the old Normal template is indeed corrupted. Also, if your document uses a template other than "Normal.dot", try recreating the template or using an earlier version of it to resolve the problem.
