Flash usage experience for digital cameras

Low-and middle-end digital cameras generally have three flash modes: Automatic Flash, red eye elimination, and flashlight closure. A more advanced product also provides "Force flash" or even "Slow flash. So what are their differences? What are the points of attention during actual shooting? I also want to hear from you. For more information, see.

1. Automatic Flash

In general, the flashlight mode is preset in the "auto flash" mode without any configuration changes from a dummies camera (using film) to a digital camera. At this time, the camera automatically determines whether the light in the shooting scene is sufficient. If not, the flash will be automatically turned on during shooting to make up for the light. In most of our shooting scenarios, the "auto flash" mode is sufficient.

2. Remove the red eye

The "Red Eye" phenomenon often occurs when taking portraits (especially close distances and dark environments. This is caused by the eye retina reflection flash. If you do not want the eyes of the person or animal to be shot to be "red-eyed", you can use the "remove red-eyed" mode of a digital camera to first flash the flashlight one or several times, after the human pupil adapts, the main flash and shooting will be carried out.

3. Disable flashing (force not flashing)

As the name implies, a digital camera is forced to turn off the flash. No flash is allowed regardless of the lighting conditions in the shooting environment. This function is most suitable for shooting at rest where the flashlight is used. For example, I have used this function to film the Golden Buddha at the Wannian Temple in Emei mountains and to film the "Dragon Ball" in the Palace Museum ". In addition, this function can create a natural shooting atmosphere at dusk or in low light.

4. Force flash

That is, the opposite of "turn off the flash", that is, whether in a bright or low light environment, turn on the flash to flash. It is usually used to photograph a person with a back-to-back light source.

Because when shooting a person, if the subject is in the backlight position (for example, shooting a person in a dark room in the room, the subject is back to a bright window ), the front of the subject will be invisible in the shadow. With this feature, you can take a picture of the subject with even light in the effective coverage of the flashlight.

5. Slow synchronization flash (slow)

When taking a photo in a dark environment, if you use a flashlight with a high shutter speed, it is easy to cause the foreground subject to be too bright or even a piece of white, but the background is still gray, details cannot be identified. The "Slow flash synchronization" will delay the shutter release speed of the digital camera. The low light background is exposed in combination with the flash lighting foreground and the slow shutter (such as 1/5 seconds. In this way, you can take pictures of the scenes that have been harmoniously exposed. In my own practical experience, I shot "song" on Huangshan in yuwutian, with satisfactory results.

However, there are two points to note when using this function:
(1) When shooting in a low-light environment, Blurred photos may be caused by the shaking of the photographer's hand when using a slow shutter. I suggest you use a dedicated camera to support digital devices.
Camera to maintain stability.
(2) when using the flashlight to assist shooting, note that the shooting distance should be within the effective coverage of the flashlight. Built-in flash for medium and low digital cameras
The coverage is limited. In the case of photography enthusiasts, The Flash index is low (generally in the range of 1 ~ Within 9 meters), but it basically meets the needs of normal shooting.
