In the field of computer graphics, according to the different mapping principle and drawing method, it is divided into two types: vector graph and bitmap.
Vector graphics are made up of individual points, each of which has its own attributes, such as position, color, and so on. Therefore, the vector map is independent of the resolution, when the vector graph is scaled, the graphic object still retains its original sharpness and smoothness, without any deviation, as shown in Figure 2-0-1, the vector graph effect is magnified 16 times times.
Figure 2-0-1 Vector graph is still clear when magnified to 16 times times
Bitmap image is composed of pixel points, the number of pixels will determine the bitmap image display quality and file size, the higher the resolution of the bitmap image, the clearer the display, the larger the space of the file. Therefore, the clarity of the bitmap image is related to the resolution. When you zoom in on a bitmap image, the pixel is magnified, and the jagged edges appear around the bitmap image. As shown in Figure 2-0-2, the bitmap effect is magnified 16 times times.

In the Flash animation production process, will use a lot of vector graphics. Although there are a series of powerful specialized vector graphics production software, such as Corel Company's CorelDRAW Software, Macromedia Company's Freehand Software and Adobe Company's illustrator software, The use of flash itself vector drawing function will be more convenient, faster. In this chapter, we will draw some simple vector graphs through the learning of the Flash basic drawing tools. In addition, Flash also has a certain bitmap processing capabilities, although not as professional as the bitmap processing software, but for the animation process need to some simple bitmap, but it can be competent.
Flash provides tools to draw freeform or exact lines, shapes, and paths, and to paint the fill objects, as shown in Figure 2-1-1, which is the Flash toolbox.

We will learn how to use these tools in two separate sections. In this section, we learn the basic usage of tools such as line tools, eyedropper tools, ink bottle tools, arrow tools, brush tools, freeform tools, paint drums, and more.
