Matte Painting refers to the landscape, scene, or distant environment that is required to create a film by means of Painting, but is too expensive or difficult to create in the field. Matte Painting can be translated as "" or "" in Chinese, but it cannot express the meaning of the original word exactly.

Matte Painting is the originator of special film effects. It first appeared in the era of black and white silent movies, and its development history is almost as old as that of movies (around 1911 ). The first scene was created by Norman A. Dawn (ASC) in 1907, and the Missions of California movie was created.
