to work with a document using ABBYY FineReader, you need to complete four steps: Get the document image > identify the document > validate the results > Save the results in the selected format. If you need to repeat the same steps over and over again, you can use the ABBYY finereader 12 built-in automation tasks, which will perform the required actions one-click, and work with complex layout documents, you can customize each step and execute it separately.
When you start ABBYY finereader, a task window is displayed with the automation tasks for the most common processing scenarios listed. If you can't see the Task window, click the Task button on the main toolbar.
1. In the Task window, click the tab on the left:
Quick Start lists the most common abbyy finereader tasks;
Microsoft Word lists the tasks for converting an automated document to Microsoft Word;
Microsoft Excel lists the tasks for converting automated documents to Microsoft Excel;
Adobe PDF Lists the tasks for converting automated documents to Microsoft PDFs;
Other tasks that convert document automation to other formats are listed;
My Tasks list your customization tasks (ABBYY FineReader corporate version only).
2. Select the language of the document from the document language Drop-down list.
3. Select the color mode of the document from the color mode drop-down list:
Full color preserves the document color;
Black and white converts the document to black and white, which reduces the document size and speeds up processing.
Note: When the document is converted to black and white, you cannot restore color. To get a color document, you can scan a colored paper document or open a file with a color image.
4. If you want to run Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or PDF tasks, specify additional document options in the right-hand section of the window.
5. Click the buttons in each task window to quickly start the ABBYY finereader task.
When you start a task, you will use the options that are currently selected in the Options dialog box (click Tools > Options to open the dialog box). When you run the task, the Task Progress window is displayed, indicating the current step and the warning from the program.
After the task is performed, the image is sent to the FineReader document for recognition and then saved in the format you choose. You can adjust the program detection area, validate the recognized text, and save the results in any other supported format.
