Today I've translated a tutorial on how to use illustrator and Photoshop to make a digital smoke effect. Original from Psd.tutsplus.com, original author Fabio, translation Chi
This tutorial is to add the color effect in Photoshop after completing the shape inside the illustrator, many excellent design works are done together using Photoshop and illustrator, from this tutorial we will learn how to coordinate two software to complete the design.
Final effect
Step 1
Open illustrator and use the Pen tool (accelerator: P) to draw two different curves that intersect the two curves. The shape of these two curves will be the shape of the smoke we make. After that, repeat the steps above to draw two curves. Select one of these two pairs of curves, set the first curve to white, and the other color to 70% gray. The other pair of curves also set the same color but the color and the first pair, we do this because we're going to be able to adjust the colors a lot easier when we import these shapes in Photoshop.
Step 2
Using the Blending tool, click on the white line edge and click on the edge of the gray line. Then a curve appears between the two curves. Use the blending tool to go to: Object blending options. There, change the spacing to a specified number of steps, and the steps are set to 200 steps. The other pair of curves also repeats the above operation.
Step 3
Now the work in the AI is over, we are going to go to Photoshop to continue, copy the two shapes inside the illustrator into Photoshop, each layer.
Step 4
Here, we build each of the two shapes into a folder and then name the following figure, the layer blending mode is set to "multiply", then perform a Gaussian blur for each of the two layers, and the parameter is set to 1px.
