As a good advisor, we have to understand the architecture of desktop virtualization and how it differs from the traditional desktop, as shown in the following illustration:
As pictured above, a complete desktop consists of the following three areas:
Operating system
Application
User section (including user data and user profiles)
Desktop virtualization separates these three parts, all data is concentrated in the data center, while the traditional desktop three are concentrated together, the security is not high.
Type of application in desktop virtualization
The application is categorized by technology as follows:
Installation: Applications are part of desktop mirroring.
Streaming: Applications are delivered over the network to the virtual desktop without affecting the local registry, and so on.
Server hosting: Applications are installed on the XenApp server and delivered through the HDX protocol.
Second, the application of the difference
From the table above, we can see the difference.
Streamed has minimal impact on virtual desktop resources.
Streamed and installed methods need to be authenticated to enter.
The three ways of updating are not the same.
