I am from the Asus A8 series. I don't know what's going on. My laptop was so slow a few days ago, so I decided to reinstall the system, although I can see on the Internet that it is very troublesome to reinstall XP on the Asus A8 series with Vista preinstalled, I still want to try it.
The first day of the evening began to back up things, about 8 o'clock to find an XP disk to start installing the system. First of all, the system does not start from the optical drive. I do not know what is going on. I adjusted the BIOS settings and set the boot priority from the optical drive, but it still does not start from the optical drive. Later, I simply disabled the hard disk and only left it to start from the CD. Now I want to start it from the CD. Who knows whether or not to read the disk, and the system cannot start? It's really depressing, I began to suspect that the optical drive was broken (the optical drive could be read normally on other machines, and I did not insert the optical drive after the original system was started. I had to go back to bed with regret. It seems that it is not easy for Asus to modify XP, haha.
Early in the morning the next day, I started to figure out the cause and tried many ways on the Internet to modify the registry, modify the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/policies/explorer and the value of the "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" table to 95 00 00, which is useless. Finally, I did not try it. I am going to take the book to the after-sales service to check if there is a problem with the optical drive. Before I went there, I made a call to Asus after-sales technical support and told her about the machine situation. After-sales technical support asked me if I had set the BIOS. I said it was correct. Finally, after-sales personnel taught me how to do this. You don't need to set the BIOS. That is, after the start button is pressed, the ESC button will pop up with a box for selecting the start method, there are three items. Select the second option to start from the CD/DVD. Really good, just get it done in one sentence.
Finally, the XP system is installed, but this driver is also worrying. The pre-installed driver is vista. If there is no XP drive disk, you must download it on the Asus official website. Looking around, I finally got it, a total of 15 (I carved a disk for backup), one by one. After a great deal of effort, I finally finished the installation and found that the mouse did not respond after the plug-in, and the camera was not easy to use. I went to the Device Manager and saw that the device was normal without a driver. If the mouse is not good or the camera is not good, there must be a problem. In this case, select the "my computer" icon on the Device Manager, click the scan detection hardware modification button on the toolbar (the one that looks like a magnifier ). In a moment, I found that there are still several devices with an exclamation point in front of the driver. Then I reloaded the driver of the card reader, that is, the richo driver, and everything went fine. The mouse and camera were good. Haha.
Oops, Asus A8 series, like z99 series, is also difficult to convert from Vista to XP. It took me a whole day to get it done, but I was very happy because it was n times faster than before, haha.
