Content of campus network construction:
1) backbone network: provides backbone communication services for computers on campus, which should have high communication bandwidth and stable and reliable features.
2) Sub-Backbone Network: a network interconnection service provided by a network system that is a collection of computers in a building or working collaboratively.
3) remote office network: network interconnection between remote office sites.
4) Remote Access: Provides network services for teachers, researchers, school leaders, and other personal offices.
5) WAN connection: enables the campus network to transmit information both domestically and internationally. This is an important part of campus network construction.
Hardware configuration and management
1) campus network service functions.
In common Campus Networks, service functions include Domain Name Service DNS, email service E-mail, remote login service, dialing service, WWW, FTP, News, WAIS, etc. Each school can select the desired service based on the actual situation.
2) Computer selection.
Generally, network servers are UNIX-based mid-range workstations, such as workstations or servers such as SUN, HP, and IBM. The operating system can be Solaris, HP-UNIX, or AIX. These servers have a memory of at least 64 MB and a hard disk capacity of more than 2 GB. They are divided into several volumes as needed. Anonymous FTP servers, WWW servers, and BBS servers should have a large hard disk capacity. Generally, more than 486 models should be used.
3) Select and configure the NIC.
The NIC is responsible for sending and receiving network management signals and data frames. It is the physical basis for computer network connection. Currently, 10 Mbit/s Ethernet NICs and 100 Mbit/s fast Ethernet NICs are widely used. Some Nic configurations use jumpers, some use software configurations, and some have automatic detection programs. When configuring the NIC, be sure not to conflict the interrupt number with the existing device. Otherwise, the machine cannot work normally.
4) Selection of connected media.
On Campus Networks, optical fiber cables are usually used to connect buildings. The optical fiber has the advantages of long connection distance, no electromagnetic interference, and strong confidentiality, which can avoid damage to network devices due to the potential difference between buildings.
5) configure and manage the hub. A hub is suitable for Connecting local area networks and is the main device connecting machines in a building. A hub can be divided into a shared type, a switch type, and an intelligent type. The new type of hub that supports virtual networks is a trend in the exchange hub. It supports logical virtual networks that are not related to physical connections, greatly simplifying network configuration, supporting SNMP, and convenient management. Most management tools are provided based on graphical interfaces, the functions can be divided into port-Based Switching and MAC address-based switching. Some VLAN hubs also have simple routing functions and are suitable for establishing LAN or even backbone networks.
6) configure and manage vrouters. The router is used to forward packets at the network layer. It effectively isolates broadcast storms and supports Protocol Transition. A router can be used for backbone connections or for wide-area connections between campus networks and regional network centers. When selecting a vro, pay attention to the network interfaces supported by the vro。, such as FDDI, UTP, BNC, and AUI, as well as the number of ports and supported protocol types. In addition, some routers provide good protocol control, traffic statistics, bandwidth allocation, and other functions. Vro configurations can be imported from the control port through a terminal. The main task before configuring a vro is to divide the addresses. Vrouters support the SNMP protocol, so you can use network management software management, such as IBM Netview and HP Openiew.
7) configure and manage remote access servers. Remote Access Server supports remote dial-up access to the network. Static or dynamic configuration can be used for IP Address Configuration. Static configuration is a common method to configure a fixed IP address on each port. Dynamic Allocation means that each Port IO address is dynamically allocated during connection. The access server should have the user identity verification function.
8) UPS Power Supply Configuration. The master server of the campus network, such as the Domain Name Server, WWW server, and email server, and other main network connection devices, such as routers, collectors, and access servers, are in the frontier, therefore, a longer backup time UPS is required to ensure power supply. Select the capacity and maintenance time of the UPS power supply, which must be determined based on the power usage of all devices and leave a certain place for use.
Network Software Configuration
1) Select the network protocol.
Because the campus network needs to be connected to the Internet, the TCP/IP protocol must be supported. If a NetWare Server exists, use the SPX/IPX protocol. You can select SLIP or PPP as the process access server.
2) TCP/IP software configuration.
TCP/IP software configuration includes machine name, IP address, domain name, and route address configuration.
3) process access to customer software configuration.
Remote Access to customer software supports PPP and SLIP. The configuration of the serial port and modem should be involved in the remote access client software configuration, such as the serial port number, modem command, speed, and dialing method ). Select the connection mode based on the Access Server's support for SLIP or PPP.
(4) Other network service configurations.
Network services include domain names, WWW, email, and anonymous FTP. Take the email server configuration as an example. Generally, it is built on a UNIX system. You need to modify the configuration file sendmail. cf of the mail transmission agent sendmail, including the domain name, local name, And alias.
Network Management
The Network Management Platform of the backbone network uses the IBM System and network management software System for AIX, System View, and Netview for AIX as the integrated platform of the entire network management System. In any status, network devices can send alarm information to the network management server through configuration. During work, the server manages the information database in a unified manner.
1) full management. Common measures are as follows: Use Network security monitoring tools to check for security vulnerabilities, and urge users to modify passwords on a regular basis to set proper access permissions for sensitive files. In addition, you can also set filtering on the vro to prevent unauthorized access.
2) billing management. Currently, traffic-based billing is adopted. Therefore, we need to collect statistics on the number of IP packets that come in and out of the campus network. We can use the traffic statistics function of the Cisco router. Email collection is different from IP-based traffic charging. The billing principle is also the data volume. You can set up an email server to send and receive emails and enhance mail management.
3) prevent viruses. There are a large number of machines in the campus network, and the network virus problem is very serious. Some files can be designed to be read-only, and anti-virus software can be installed on them, which can play a role.
Network Solution Selection
Campus Backbone Network Solutions generally have two options: FDDI technology or ATM Technology
Device Selection
To meet future compatibility expansion requirements, network devices should support relevant international standards and select a product as much as possible.
Network Construction
The Design of Interent access network includes the following aspects:
1. Design of Access System
· Access part of the campus network and Education and Scientific Research Network: The main function of this part of the system is to provide the campus network Interent International egress, device Configuration Management requires high reliability, fast communication speed, and good scalability, so as to meet the needs of rapidly growing Internet users for network bandwidth. Campus Networks and education and scientific research networks must be connected through routers.
· User access: the user access system can be accessed through a leased line or through a dial-up line.
2. Security System Design
System security is a prominent problem in network engineering. In this system scheme, a Cisco IOS packet filtering firewall system is used, that is, a firewall is set up on the border router Cisco 2514 in the Network Center, and basic firewall functions are provided through address filtering.
3. Information Server Installation
The main task of the Internet network center is to provide Internet Information Services. The system includes the following information service functions: DNS, E-mail, WEB and FTP, Proxy service, News Service, bbs e-advertising board system, etc. The most common services are DNS, email, and WWW.
4. browser Installation
The browser uses the Navigator of Netscape.
Integrated Wiring
The structured cabling system is an important infrastructure for modern networks and a residential infrastructure. Considering the rapid development of the computer information network technology, when designing a PPS system, we must have the ability to adapt to new technology applications and system expansion, to a certain extent, to adapt to the development in the next few years of this year. As a user, integrators with real technical strength should be selected for design, construction and maintenance. We should clarify our own needs and objectives, grasp every step of the design and construction of the hospital's PNS, ensure the quality of the project, and standardize the data management and maintenance work, it lays a solid foundation for the application and continuous development of information networks.
