Part I install Directory Server
1. Enter the SunONE installation directory, run setup, and select install Sun ONE Directory Server.

The following message may appear:
No effect. Select y and select setup.
[Note: before installation, confirm to stop the SMTP service .]
2. In the following operations, select iPlanet servers on the installation screen and next, select the typical installation method and select the installation directory.

3. Select all components.

4. Select the port and suffix information.

[NOTE: If your machine does not have the primary DNS suffix, You need to manually complete the suffix and remember the suffix value, which will be used in future configuration; if the DNS suffix already exists on the server, the SunONE installer can automatically enter the correct suffix]

5. Enter the correct administrator ID and password used to start the iPlanet console.

6. Enter the domain name to be managed by the console administrator.

[Note: The name of the administration domain must be the same as that of suffix. Remove 'DC =]
7. Enter the user information of the correct directory server root node.

!!! Alert: Remember the information during installation and use this information when configuring Cognos.

8. Select next and keep the default items on the following page. After installation, restart the computer.

Part II install impromptu Web Report
[Note: replace impromptu Web report with IWR below]

1.run setup.exe on the installation optical disk. The following figure is displayed:

2. on the software license agreement page, select YES and next until the installation directory is selected.
[Note: Cognos only allows products of the same version to be installed in the same directory. If products of the same version have been installed before, the directory is not optional; otherwise, select the installation directory]
3. On the installation type page, select Custom for installation.

4. On the select component selection page, select the following component:

[Note: For IWR installation, the default options will configure Directory Server. For powerplay Enterprise Server installation, the default options will not configure Directory Server. This is the difference between the default options for two installations. If you have configured Directory Server, uncheck directory server configuration .]
5. Select next to complete the information required by the configuration Directory Server, and ensure that the information is consistent with the information of the Directory Server you need to configure.

[Note: For information about Directory Server, see the previous chapter to install iPlanet Directory Server .]

6. On the Directory Server Configuration password page, enter and verify the password of the unrestricted user/administrator.

[Note: The default unrestricted user is Cn = Directory Manager]
7. Select next. On the next page, enter other information required by configuration Directory Server:

Note: The information must be exactly the same as that of the Directory Server to be configured .]
8. Select next to continue the installation until the installation is complete.
9. After the installation is complete, configure the connection between Access Manager and Directory Manager.
Go to: Start Menu? Cognos bi? Administration? Access Manager-Administration
Select Add connection:

Add the correct Directory Manager Information:

Make sure the test is successful. Select Ticket Server

Enter the correct information about the unstrict user in administrator access, and log on

Add the correct information to the following screen to ensure the test is successful.
Select the added connection and click set the item as default on the toolbar.

Select runtime configuration, and select directory server in the following figure.

Add the correct content on the following page:

Make sure that the prompt is correct. Select next:

Click "finish.
10. Select IWR setup again, select install impromptu Web Report, select Custom, and select the following component:

[Note: before re-installation, create the iwr_db directory under <Cognos installation> cer1 and share the directory .]

11. Select next and select the newly created iwr_db directory.

12. Select next until the installation is complete. Restart the computer.
13. Enter the IWR installer again, select Custom, and select the following componet.

14. Select next and select the local administrator on the following page.

[Note: The Administrator of the local machine cannot be a blank password or the installation cannot continue .]

15. Enter the password of the Operating System Administrator as required.

16. Select the created iwr_db shared directory.

17. Select next until installation is complete and restart the computer.

Part III install distribution shuttle Builder
Distribution shuttle builder is a tool used to publish reports. It can be installed by default.
The basic steps are as follows (Fig 15, fig 16, fig 17 ):
1. Select install Cognos distribution shuttle builder for setup on the IWR installation disc.

2. Enter the correct installation information to complete the installation.

Part IV install powerplay Enterprise Server

[Note: powerplay Enterprise Server is ppes for short]
[Each time a new Cognos product is installed, services previously installed must be stopped]
1. Go to the ppes installation directory and select install powerplay Enterprise Server.

2. Select next until the following page appears. Select locales for simplified Chinese.

3. Select next until the installation is complete. The following page is displayed. Select open the Configuration Manager to customize component configuration.

4. Configure the correct settings for directory server on the following page.

[Note: make sure that these configurations are consistent with your directory server information. For more information about the configurations, see parti .]
[Note: service? Access Manager-directory server? On the property value page in general, are you sure you want to configure this directory server? No is the correct setting, because we have configured Directory Server during the installation of IWR in partii .]

5. Select validation selection and apply selection in the tool bar to ensure that the returned information is correct.

6. Change the gateway from the machine name to the IP address.

7. Save and close Configuration Manager and complete installation.

Part IIV: Configure IIS as the Web server of ppes and IWR at the same time

1. Open the Internet Service Manager. Create a new Cognos virtual directory under the default web site. Grant the read permission to this directory. The actual directory is <installation Cognos>/cer3/webcontent
The ppwb and upfront directories are displayed by default, and the read permission is granted to these directories. (Configure ppes)

2. Create a new virtual directory cgi-bin under Cognos and grant the directory read and execute the tutorial. The actual directory is <installation Cognos>/cer3/cgi-bin.
3. Create a new site on the host with any name such as iwrsite and assign different ports to the master site. (Configure IWR)

4. Create the same virtual directory/Cognos and/Cognos/cgi-bin on the newly created site. The relationship is as follows:
/Cognos/<installation Cognos>/cer1/webcontent
/Cognos/cgi-bin/<installation Cognos>/cer1/cgi-bin
