Setup Preparation
This method is only stored in the file system for attachments. If you are storing attachments in a database, refer to the contents of the Attachment Storage Configuration document to find out how to consolidate between 2 different file storage methods.
Step 1: Record your plugin
Record the plugins you have recently installed and enabled in confluence, which you can reinstall or tweak later. For the plugin you installed, you need to record some of the following:
Step 2: Back up your data
Create an XML backup for the data that you already exist. Please refer to the contents of the manually backing up the Site page. You need to record the location of the created XML backup, and you need this file to be imported later into the new database used by confluence.
Stop confluence.
Copy the attachment directory in the Confluence Home directory ( <CONFLUENCE-HOME-DIRECTORY>\attachments
). You will need to copy your confluence directory into the new Confluence installation instance later.
If you are using an external database, make sure that your external database also creates a backup. You can use the various tools provided by the external database to create this backup.
Step 3: Set up a new database
Choose a Database Setup guide for your new database and run these guides to help you do the following:
Install the database server.
Make some adjustments to the platform and performance for the database server.
Add confluence databases and users. At this point, record the database user name and password that you used. You will need to use it when you run the Confluence Setup Wizard in the next step.
Step 4: Install Confluence (same version number) in the new location
Now you need to install the confluence again, this time the installation will follow the different Home directory path and the installation path. Note: You must use the exact same version as your pre-confluence installation (if you want to upgrade the confluence, you need to do the upgrade separately). For example, if your current confluence is running 5.1.2, your newly installed confluence must also be version 5.1.2.
When running Confluence installer:
Select Custom Install. (Do not choose to upgrade an installed instance that already exists.) )
Select a new installation directory . This installation directory is for your newly installed confluence. This installation directory must be completely different from the confluence directory you are currently installing.
Select a new home directory. This installation directory is for your newly installed confluence. This installation directory must be completely different from the confluence directory you are currently installing.
Step 5: Download and install the database driver, if necessary
Note that confluence is bundled with some database drivers, and if you choose to use a database driver that is not bundled into confluence, you need to install these database drivers. Please refer to the Database Setup Guide for setting up your new database. If necessary, you need to download and install a new database driver.
Step 6: Run the Confluence Setup Wizard and copy your data into the new database
When you run the Confluence Setup Wizard:

Enter your license key as usual.

Select Production installation (Production installation) in the installation type.

Select my own database from the data type drop-down menu (my own databases) Then select the database you are using for installation.

When you need to select my own database (my own) , you need to select your new data type .

To enter your database details. Use test connection to determine that your database has been set up correctly.

In the Load content step, select Recover from backup (Restore from backup) . This is the step from importing the content into the database from your backup XML file, there are 2 ways to access the XML file you backed up:

Browse to your XML backup file from the network, and then select Upload and restore (Upload and restore) .

Optional, you can upload your XML backup file to your new installation confluence's home directory ( <confluence-home-directory>\restore ) and then select Restore , which is recommended for large XML files.
Note: If you choose not to reply to the data during the confluence installation process, you can import the data after the installation is successful. Go to the Administrator console of the confluence and select Restore from an XML backup. Please refer to the content on the Site Backup and Restore page.
Step 7: Copy all of your attachments
Copy the contents of the Attachments directory ( <CONFLUENCE-HOME-DIRECTORY>\attachments
) from your, Confluence home directory to your new confluence home Directory.
Step 8: Reinstall all of your plugins
Reinstall plugins that are not bundled into the confluence.
use with your old confluence install a consistent plug-in.
The data created by the plugin already exists in your newly installed confluence, because you have backed up the XML file when you backed up the database.
Step 9: Check the settings of the new machine
If you move to confluence to a different server, you need to check some of the following settings:
To configure your new base URL, refer to: Configuring the Server base URL.
To check your app connection, see: Linking to another application.
Update any applet subscription that is used for confluence for external sites. For example, if your Jira site ordered the Confluence applet, you need to update your Jira site.
