Recently in the toss of Linux, we usually install the software under Linux can only open in the Unpacked folder, how to like windows to create icons on the desktop?
Here is an example of the eclipse I installed:
First of all, we open the terminal .....
Vim/usr/share/applications/eclipse.desktop
The following are the contents:
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=utf-8
Name=eclipse
Comment=eclipse IDE
Exec=/usr/local/eclipse/eclipse
icon=/usr/local/eclipse/icon.xpm
Terminal=false
Startupnotify=true
Type=application
Categories=application;development;
You can save it.
So on your desktop (of course you see what system, I use CentOS) applications--->programming--->eclipse appeared.
Note: You must have root permission to save the desktop file, and the SU command you understand.
