The goal of the database management system (DB Management systems) is to create, process, and manage databases.

DB2

As a pioneer and navigator in the relational database field, IBM completed the System R prototype in 1977 and began providing integrated database server--SYSTEM/38 in 1980, followed by Sql/dsforvse and VMS, Its initial version is closely related to the SYSTEMR research prototype. DB2 ForMVSV1 was launched in 1983. The goal of this release is to provide the simplicity, data dependencies, and user productivity that this new scenario promises. 1988 DB2 for MVS delivers powerful online transaction processing (OLTP) support, and distributed database support in 1989 and 1993, respectively, with remote work units and distributed work units. The recently launched DB2 Universal Database 6.1 is an example of a common databases, the first multimedia relational database management system with online functions, supporting a range of platforms including Linux.

Oracle

Oracle, formerly known as SDL, was founded by Larry Ellison and two other programmers in 1977, who developed their own products and sold heavily in the market, and Oracle introduced the first commercial SQL relational database management system in 1979. Oracle is one of the first vendors to develop relational databases, and its products support the broadest range of operating system platforms. Oracle relational database products are currently the market share among the top.

SQL Server (used. )

In 1987, Microsoft and IBM collaborated to develop the OS/2,IBM os/2database Manager in the OS/2 extendededition system it sold, while the Microsoft product line lacked database products. To this end, Microsoft will look to Sybase, signed a cooperation agreement with Sybase, using Sybase technology to develop a relational database based on the OS/2 platform. In 1989, Microsoft released the SQL Server version 1.0.

Mysql

MySQL is a small relational database management system, developer for the Swedish MySQL AB company. was acquired by Sun Company on January 16, 2008. Currently, MySQL is widely used in small and medium Web sites on the Internet. Because of its small size, speed, the total cost of ownership is low, especially the characteristics of open source, many small and medium-sized Web sites in order to reduce the total cost of ownership of the site to choose MySQL as a Web site database.

Access (This is the most common DBMS I've ever used.) )

A computerized database management system launched by Microsoft in the United States in 1994. It has the characteristics of friendly interface, easy to learn and easy to use, simple development and flexible interface, and is a typical new generation desktop database management system. The main features are as follows:

(1) Perfect management of various database objects, with a strong data organization, user management, security checks and other functions.

(2) powerful data processing functions, in a workgroup-level network environment, a multiuser database management system developed using Access has traditional xbase (DBASE, foxbase collectively) client server (cient/server) that the database system cannot implement Structure and the corresponding database security mechanism, access has the characteristics of many advanced large database management systems, such as transaction processing/error rollback capabilities.

(3) can easily generate a variety of data objects, the use of stored data to establish forms and reports, good visibility.

(4) As part of the Office suite, you can integrate with Office to achieve seamless connectivity.

(5) The ability to use the Web to retrieve and publish data to connect to the Internet. Access is primarily available for small and medium applications, or as a client database in a client/server system.

(The first five kinds of data management system market share is very large.) )

FoxPro (This is the first DBMS I used.) )

Originally by the United States Fox launched in 1988, the 1992 Fox Company was acquired by Microsoft, after the launch of the FoxPro2.5, 2.6 and Visualfoxpro, and other versions, its function and performance has been greatly improved. FoxPro2.5, 2.6 is divided into DOS and Windows two versions, running in both DOS and Windows environments. FoxPro than Foxbase in the function and performance of a great improvement, mainly introduced the window, button, list box and text boxes and other controls, and further improve the system's development capabilities.

Informix

Informix was established in 1980 to provide professional relational database products for open operating systems such as UNIX. The company's name, Informix, is a combination of information and UNIX. Informix's first relational database product that really supports the SQL language is Informix SE (standardengine). Informixse was the main database product in the computer UNIX environment at that time. It is also the first commercial database product to be ported to Linux.

Sybase

Sybase Company was founded in 1984, the company name "Sybase" from "System" and "database" combined meaning. Bob Epstein, one of Sybase's founders, is the main designer of the Ingres University Edition (the same time as the SYSTEM/R relational Database model product). The company's first relational database product is the Sybase SQLServer1.0, which was launched in May 1987. Sybase first put forward the idea of Client/server database architecture and was the first to implement it in Sybase SQL Server.

PostgreSQL

PostgreSQL is a very complete object of free software-relational database management system (ORDBMS), its many features are the predecessor of today's many commercial databases. PostgreSQL first started with the BSD Ingres project. The PostgreSQL features cover the sql-2/sql-92 and SQL-3. First, it includes support that can be said to be the richest data type in the world, and secondly, currently PostgreSQL is the only one of the free software database management systems that supports transactions, subqueries, multiple versions of parallel control systems, and data integrity checks.
