Eclipse SVN Plugin is one of the essential tools for team development with Eclipse.
(Note: svn, full name subversion, is divided into server versions and client versions, and the Eclipse SVN plugin we use is one of the SVN clients.) )
There are two main SVN plug-ins for Eclipse, one called Subclipse(primarily for Eclipse 3.2+ and SVN 1.5 to 1.8) and the other called Subversive(the main support for Eclipse 3.6+ and SVN 1.1 ~ 1.7). Here, we take subclipse as an example of how to install the SVN plugin, if you want to use subversive, you can also refer to this article.
1. Install SVN plugin Online
The latest Subclipse supports Eclipse 3.2 and above (MyEclipse 5.0+, Zend Studio 6.0+), but the official gives multiple update site URLs to differentiate between different server-side SVN versions.
Update site URL |
minimum supported SVN versions |
http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.10.x |
Subversion 1.8 |
http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.8.x |
Subversion 1.7 |
http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x |
Subversion 1.6 |
http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.4.x |
Subversion 1.5 |
Select the corresponding update site URL based on the SVN version you are using, and then refer to how to install the Eclipse plugin online.
2. Install the SVN plugin locally
Because of network problems, installing SVN plug-ins online is relatively time consuming, and you can manually download the installation files for the Eclipse SVN plugin and then manually install it locally. After downloading the Eclipse SVN plugin, please refer to how to install the Eclipse plugin locally.
