Unilever, a famous Daily Chemical Company, encountered a problem on the production line. The soap boxes in Unilever's production line contain a certain proportion of leaks. That is to say, some soap boxes are loaded without soap. To solve this problem, Unilever has convened several engineers with doctoral degrees to overcome it. After more than half a year of hard work and spending millions of dollars, the solution finally came out: an equipment similar to X-ray radiation is set up on the production line. Just like the surveillance equipment in front of a train or plane, an empty box without soap can be seen and detected immediately. Unilever's management was very satisfied with the solution.
Faced with the same problem, a soap factory gave the problem to a small worker on the production line and asked him to come up with a solution. The employee gave a solution after hard thinking. He put the two common iron fans in the workshop and put them on both sides of the soap production line for ventilation and cooling, and blew the soap boxes on the production line without empty boxes containing soap, because of its light weight, the product line is naturally blown down by the wind. This problem can be solved without a penny.
This story gives us at least two inspirations: first, wisdom is often found at the grassroots level of employees, but the management has not yet discovered it; second, the wisdom of front-line employees at the grass-roots level can often find more economical and effective methods.
