Excel 2010 Format Wave pattern
The wave chart of this paper shows the net profit of three book suppliers in 2008 year by month. Individual net profit values tell which vendors are doing well, and wave charts help identify trends that follow numbers: Seattle and Houston have fallen in summer sales, usually their profits have been climbing, and Richmond has been underperforming in addition to the last one months.
Look at the formatting options for the three wave graphs. When you select a wave chart, a Wave Diagram contextual tab appears in the Ribbon, similar to selecting a chart or PivotTable report. The following are formatting options, shows/hides, and styles in the tab of the Wave Diagram tool context:
A wave chart has a library that resembles a chart and a table, where you can quickly choose a color scheme. Some of the unique options for the wave pattern are in the show/Hide group, where you can activate the point. Selecting a point option turns on or highlights that point in each wave pattern, so if you turn on the high, you'll get a high in each wave pattern for a line-shaped chart. For histogram and profit and loss graphs, points representing highs will be formatted differently than others. If it is related to the high point, it will be highlighted. The negative point will open or highlight the negative points in the wave pattern, and if the negative points in the example wave pattern are opened, the results of the following graphs are obtained:
At this point, these wave patterns become quite obvious, emphasizing that Richmond has only one profitable month of the year. The library will also be updated to reflect the options selected in the Show/Hide group.
You can also choose a color from the color picker for all the points and the wave pattern colors. There are two Drop-down controls next to the library, which allow for color pickup and some other options. In this example, the color of the wave pattern is dimmed and the negative is red:
The format option is stored when the type of wave diagram is switched, so the gray columnar wave pattern is picked up and switched to a line wave pattern, and a gray wave pattern is provided. Also note that the flag option is disabled because a columnar wave pattern is selected, and the flag option applies only to line-type graphs. There are also display axis options in the Axis menu, which apply to all wave type chart types.
By mixing colors, dots, and axes, you can create a wave pattern of various skins.
Note that formatting is group based, and the wave diagram example above is in the same group, so setting a single color/point option will be set to all the wave patterns. If you want a wave pattern to have a different format, you must first remove it from the group.
