Q: I want to print a color header, but I can't apply a color format to the header. How to solve?

A: The text in the header can only be printed as black, and you cannot apply color to the text in the header or footer, even with a color printer. To print a color header, you can use a print title instead of a header. For example, to print the company logo and address at the top of each page, place the logo and address information on the first few lines of the worksheet, on the File menu, click Page Setup, click the Sheet tab, and then in the Top header row box, enter the line that contains the logo and address.

Q: I used the background command on the Format menu to add a background pattern to my work, but when I printed it, I didn't print my worksheet background. How do you solve it?

A. The background pattern added to the worksheet using the background command on the Format menu will not be printed. However, the pattern that you add to the worksheet with the Picture command on the Insert menu and the cell background pattern or shadow that you added to the worksheet with the Cells command on the Format menu are printed.

Q: When I print a worksheet, Excel ignores the page breaks that you set. Why?

A. If you have set up to have Excel print the workbook to a specific number of pages, Excel ignores the manual page breaks that you have set and reduces the size of the printed worksheet. To print the worksheet to a specified number of pages and use a manually inserted page break, click Page Setup on the File menu, click the Page tab, and then click Zoom. If scaling does not produce the desired effect, you can select each page as a separate area when you set up the print area, and Excel prints the nonadjacent area of the print area to a separate page.

Q: After I set up more than one print area on a worksheet, Excel cannot print multiple print areas on the same page. How to solve?

A. If the print area contains nonadjacent areas in the worksheet, Excel prints each area to a separate page by default. You can use the following methods to specify separate areas on a worksheet and print them on the same page.

1. Print nonadjacent columns to adjacent locations: Select the columns you don't want to print, click Columns on the Format menu, and then click Hide. Sets a print area that contains all the columns, including hidden columns.

2. Print nonadjacent rows to the top and bottom adjacent positions: Select the rows you don't want to print, click Line on the Format menu, and then click Hide. Sets a print area that contains all the rows, including hidden rows.
