Operation Steps

If we have an Excel workbook document where we want people to see the data and don't want others to save the changes, you can set a read-only password for it.

There are two ways to set up a read-only password, and here we only describe the method that is set through options:

Open the document you want to set a password for, and then execute the Tools Options command to open the Options dialog box.

Switch to the "Security" tab, set the "Open password", OK, re-enter the password again, OK return.

Save the document again.

Open such a document, and without the correct password, you can open the browsing content in read-only mode without saving changes to it.
