We know that in Windows 8.1, configuration information cannot be synchronized between the desktop mode of IE and the Modern mode. For example, after logging on to Weibo in IE, you need to log on again when you enable Internet Explorer of Modern. Firefox does not have this problem. Its developers have announced that the forthcoming version of Modern will share the same configuration file with Firefox.
Brian Bondy, a Firefox browser developer, said that their original idea was to use different configuration files for Firefox and Modern respectively, then, use the cloud synchronization method to synchronize some data between the two configuration files. Now they have changed their plans-Firefox for desktop and Modern will directly share the same configuration file.
This means that you do not need to rely on the cloud or other means. your bookmarks, logon information, cookies, and other types of data can be consistent on the desktop and the Modern Firefox browser at any time.
However, this approach also brings about a small problem. Due to the inherent defects of the Windows system, the same file cannot be opened in two programs at the same time, therefore, after the desktop and Modern Firefox share the same configuration file, you cannot open both the desktop and Modern Firefox.
However, Firefox developers feel that the need to open two Firefox browsers at the same time is very small, so this defect is not important-when users access the mouse and keyboard, they have almost no reason to use the Modern firefox version, when users use the flat mode, they rarely use Firefox as the desktop. In addition, if you really want to open two environments at the same time, they can specify different configuration files for the two through the Configuration Manager.
The Modern Firefox browser is expected to be officially released by the end of January 2014.
