Usage Library

The library in the Flash Professional document is stored in the media resources created or imported in the Flash Professional Creation environment. In flashprofessional, you can directly create vector illustrations or text, import vector illustrations, bitmaps, videos, and sounds, and create components.ComponentImages, buttons, video clips, or text that can be repeatedly used once. You can also dynamically add media content to a document using ActionScript.

The Library also contains all components that have been added to the document. The component is displayed as a compilation clip in the library.

When working in Flash Professional, you can open the library of any Flash Professional document and use the library project of this file for the current document.

You can create permanent libraries in the Flash Professional application, which can be used as long as Flash Professional is started. Flash Professional also provides several sample libraries that contain buttons, graphics, video clips, and sounds.

You can export library resources as SWF files to a URL to create a shared library at runtime. In this way, the flashprofessional documents can be linked to these library resources, and these documents share the import components at runtime.

The "library" Panel ("window"> "library") displays a rolling list of all project names in the library, allowing you to view and organize these elements at work. The icon next to the project name in the library panel indicates the file type of the project.

Open the library in another flash file
  1. Select "file"> "import"> "open external library" from the current document ".
  2. Locate the flashprofessional file of the library to be opened, and click open ".

Open the library of the selected file in the current document and display the file name at the top of the "library" panel. To use projects in the library of the selected files in the current document, drag these projects to the "library" Panel or stage of the current document.

To resize the database panel, Perform one of the following operations:

  • Drag the lower right corner of the Panel.

  • Click the wide status button to enlarge the library panel to display all columns.

  • Click the narrow status button to narrow down the width of the library panel.

Change the column width, place the pointer between the column headers, and drag it to adjust the size.

You cannot change the column sequence.

Use folders in the library panel

You can use folders in the library panel to organize projects. When you create a new component, it is stored in the selected folder. If no folder is selected, the component is stored in the root directory of the library.

Create a new folder

Click "create folder" at the bottom of the "library" panel.

Open or close a folder

Double-click a folder, or select a folder, and then select expand folder or collapse folder from the "Panel" menu on the "Database" panel ".

Open or close all folders

From the "Panel" menu on the "library" Panel, select "Expand All Folders" or "collapse all folders ".

Move projects between folders

Drag a project from one folder to another.

If a project with the same name exists in the new location, flashprofessional will prompt you to replace it with a mobile project.

Sort projects in the database panel

The columns on the "library" panel list the project name, project type, number of times the project is used in the file, the link status and identifier of the project (if the project is associated with the shared library or is exported) for ActionScript ), and the date on which the project was last modified.

You can sort projects alphabetically by any column in the database panel. Projects are sorted in folders.

Click the column title to sort the column. Click the triangle button on the right of the column title to reverse the sorting order.

Use public libraries

You can add a button or sound to the document using the example public library that comes with Flash Professional. You can also create a custom Public Library and use it with any created document.

Use projects in the public library in the document
  1. Select "window"> "Public Library" and select a library from the sub-menu.

  2. Drag the project from the Public Library to the library of the current document.

Create a public library for the SWF Application
  1. Create a flashprofessional file with a library that contains the components you want to include in the public library.

  2. Place the Flash Professional file in the user-level library folder on the hard disk.

    • In Windows XP, the path is c: \ Documents ents and Settings \User Name\ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Adobe \ Flash cs5 \Language\ Configuration \ libraries \.

    • In Windows Vista, the path is c: \ Users \User Name\ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Adobe \ Flash cs5 \Language\ Configuration \ libraries \.

    • In Mac OS, the path is hard disk/users/User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/flash cs5/Language/Configuration/libraries /".

Conflicts between library resources

If you import or copy a library resource to a document that already contains different resources with the same name, you can choose whether to replace an existing project with a new project. This option applies to all methods used to import or copy library resources.

When you try to place a project that conflicts with an existing project in the document, the "solution Library Project" dialog box appears. If you want to copy a project that already exists in the target document from the source document and the two projects have different modification dates, a conflict will occur. You can avoid name conflicts by organizing resources in folders in the document library. If you paste a component or component to the stage of the document, but a copy of the component or component already exists (the modification date is different from the modification date of the pasted component or component ), this dialog box is also displayed.

If you choose not to replace the existing project, flashprofessional will try to use the existing project instead of the conflicting project being pasted. For example, if you copy a component named "element 1" and paste a copy of the component to the stage of the document (which already contains a component named "element 1, flashprofessional will create an existing "component 1" instance.

If you choose to replace an existing project, flashprofessional replaces the existing project (and all its instances) with a new project with the same name ). If you cancel the import or copy operation, the operation is canceled for all projects (not only those projects that conflict with the target document ).

Only the same library project types can be replaced with each other. That is, you cannot use a bitmap named "test" to replace a sound named "test. In this case, the name of the new project is appended with the word "copy" and then added to the library.

Note: you cannot undo this operation to replace the library project. Before performing a complex paste operation that can be solved only by replacing conflicting library projects, save a backup of the FLA file.

If the "resolve database conflict" dialog box appears when you import or copy database resources to the document, resolve the naming conflict.

Resolve the name conflicts between database resources. In the "resolve database conflicts" dialog box, Perform one of the following operations:

  • To retain existing resources in the target document, click "do not replace existing project ".

  • To replace existing resources and instances with a new project with the same name, click replace existing project ".

Back to Top use library projects

When you select a project in the "library" Panel, the thumbnail preview of the project appears at the top of the "library" panel. If the selected project is an animation or sound file, you can use the library preview window or the play button in the Controller to preview the project.

Use the Library Project in the current document. Drag the project from the "Database" panel to the stage.

The project is added to the current layer.

Convert objects on the stage to components in the library and drag the project from the stage to the current "library" panel.

In another document, use the library project in the current document to drag the project from the "library" Panel or stage to the "library" Panel or stage of another document.

Copy a library project from another document
  1. Select the documents that contain these library projects.
  2. On the "Database" Panel, select the database project.
  3. Select "edit"> "copy ".
  4. Select the target document to copy these library projects.
  5. Select the "Database" Panel for this document.
  6. Select "edit"> "Paste ".

Edit Library Project
  1. On the "Database" Panel, select a project.
  2. Select one of the following items from the "Panel" menu on the "Database" panel:
    • To edit a project in Flash Professional, select "edit ".

    • To edit a project in another application, select edit mode and select an external application.

Note: After the supported external editor is started, flashprofessional will open the original import document.

Rename a library project

Changing the name of the Library Project for the import file does not change the file name.

  1. Perform one of the following operations:

    • Double-click the project name.

    • Select a project and select "RENAME" from the "Panel" menu on the "Database" panel ".

    • Right-click (Windows) or press and hold control, click (Macintosh) the project, and select "RENAME" from the context menu ".

  2. Enter a new name in the box.

Delete Library Project

When an item is deleted from the database, all instances or matching items of the item are also deleted from the document.

Select a project and click the recycle bin icon at the bottom of the "Database" panel.

Search for unused library projects

To organize documents, you can find unused library projects and delete them.

Note: you do not need to delete unused library items to reduce the file size of the Flash Professional document because unused library items are not included in the SWF file. However, the linked project to be exported is included in the SWF file. Perform one of the following operations:

  • Select "select unused Projects" from the "Panel" menu on the "Database" panel ".

  • Sort library projects by the "usage" column, which indicates whether a project is in use.

Update the import file in the library

If you use an external editor to modify files that have been imported to flashprofessional (such as bitmap or sound files), you can update these files in flashprofessional without re-importing them. You can also update the components that have been imported from the External Flash Professional document. When an imported file is updated, its content is replaced by the content of an external file.

  1. On the "Database" Panel, select the imported file.
  2. Select "Update" from the "Panel" menu on the "Database" panel ".

Copy database resources between documents

You can copy the library from the source document to the target document in various ways. You can also share components as shared library resources between documents during creation or running.

If you try to copy a resource with the same name as the existing resource in the target document, the "resolving database conflicts" dialog box allows you to select whether to overwrite existing resources or retain existing resources and add new resources with the modified name. Organize the Library Resources in the folder to minimize possible name conflicts when copying resources between documents.

Copy and paste library resources
  1. Select resources on the stage of the source document.

  2. Select "edit"> "copy ".

  3. Make the target document an activity document.

  4. To paste the resource to the center of the visible clipboard, place the pointer on the stage and select "edit"> "paste to center position ". To place resources in the same location as the source document, select "edit"> "paste to current location ".

Copy Library Resources by dragging

When the target document is opened, select the resource in the "library" Panel of the source document and drag it into the "library" Panel of the target document.

Copy Library resources by creating an open source document library in the target document
  1. When the target document is active, select "file"> "import"> "open external library ".

  2. Select the source document and click open ".

  3. Drag resources from the source document library to the stage or to the library of the target document.
