Ii. complementary advantages of wired and wireless communication technologies

The advantage of Wired Access is unlimited bandwidth access resources theoretically, comfortable working conditions, good reading, appreciation and operation environments, and powerful terminal processing capabilities; wireless Access is characterized by limited access bandwidth resources (limited by mobile frequency resources), limited battery capabilities, limited processor capabilities (power-saving and cooling), and limited working environments, however, its advantage lies in its mobility. Therefore, these two access methods are characterized by their complementary advantages and are also the true driving force of FMC businesses in terms of technology.

Iii. mobile and fixed network architecture tends to be the same

With the emergence and popularization of the Internet and various multimedia applications based on IP technology, the Internet has rapidly cultivated a large number of user groups. This phenomenon provides a lot of meaningful inspiration for fixed network operators and mobile network operators: IP-based multimedia applications will be the core competitiveness for users and increase the ARPU value. In addition, compared with the traditional TDM signaling service implementation method, the IP-based service implementation method is convenient, flexible, and fast. Therefore, fixed network operators and mobile network operators have switched their network evolution to IP-based networks.

Taking the development of fixed network and mobile core network as an example, the next generation of fixed network core network NGN is a Softswitch Technology Based on the IP protocol and open interfaces, and the next generation of mobile network core network R4 version, the mobile Softswitch technology for control and bearer separation and the signaling and voice carried by IP are also introduced. IMS was introduced in R5, which is considered to be one of the most important technical driving forces for FMC development.

IMS was proposed by 3GPP, and etsi tispan introduced it into the NGN architecture of the fixed network. Currently, the fixed and mobile networks are considered to be based on the IMS architecture. Both IMS in 3GPP and IMS in tispan ngn are based on the group exchange network, and the control layer architecture is identical, providing the possibility of physical convergence of fixed mobile networks.

In the IMS architecture, the business layer and the control layer are completely separated, creating convenient conditions for fixed and mobile generation of unified business logic. In addition, a unified database (HSS) is set up in the IMS architecture, which not only meets the mobility management needs of the mobile network, but also achieves the nomadic nature of fixed terminals.

Noda believes that from the perspective of the evolution of the network, the basic and business implementation methods of next-generation networks for fixed and mobile network operators have already coincide, this provides conditions for FMC implementation.

On the other hand, with the maturity of Wi-Fi/WiMAX technology, the boundaries of the original fixed/mobile networks have begun to blur, services have begun to penetrate each other, and the internal conditions of network convergence have matured.

Iv. Increasing number of fixed network services replaced by FMS

At this stage, FMC is mostly replaced by FMS. both abroad and in China, FMC is an important development trend in the communication industry. The voice market share of fixed network operators is constantly eroded by mobile traffic, and the revenue is declining. Fixed network operators believe that FMC can help them regain their voice communication market share. Therefore, the FMC efforts made to cope with the FMS are mainly driven by fixed operators.

Although mobile operators already have business advantages, once they have both fixed-line and mobile services, relying on enhanced services and new technologies to provide users with the best services in the fixed network and mobile communication fields, these new services can help mobile operators improve ARPU, because such high-quality services can be highly charged. Mobile operators also believe that such integrated services allow them to further enter the home and enterprise markets.

Noda believes that FMC is one of the important ways for operators to obtain additional benefits from new value-added services. As the communication market grows to demand-driven, more and more people in the industry begin to think about FMC from the business perspective. At present, global telecom operators, especially fixed network operators, are facing great competition pressure. FMC has become one of their preferred tools to get rid of the predicament, and FMC has become the focus of attention in the industry.

V. Demand for cost reduction

The cost of network construction is minimized. 3g construction requires a large amount of capital investment. fixed network operators do not share the site addresses of base stations as mobile operators do, and they can be upgraded on the original backbone network, it must redeploy 3G base stations, access, and long-distance access networks. As a public company, fixed network operators must consider saving investment costs as much as possible to bring return to investors. The fusion of IP/MPLS backbone bearer networks illustrates the principle of optimal cost for basic network construction; IMS-based convergence is a manifestation of standardized and layered networks, laying a good network foundation for rapid development of new telecom businesses. The fixed network and mobile network services are provided online, reducing the investment cost of the network and the operation and maintenance cost of the network and business.
