FrontPage 2003 new Features

FrontPage 2003 is a lot more functional, so let's take a look at the 9 new features that are highlighted in the new version.

1. Custom browser resolution preview check?

When designing a Web page, you can adjust the resolution that the current page displays at the client in real time to preview the current effect. We look at the FrontPage 2003 interface to display the size of the page in the bottom of the area, the default is 792x533, right click, pop-up as shown in Figure 1 menu, you can set arbitrary resolution to facilitate the preview.

2. Tracing Images

Everyone in the study of calligraphy, have contact with the copy it, the function of the tracing image is similar to it, by creating an image (generally for the Web page effect map) as a reference to facilitate the design of the Web page. This feature is basically available in every version of the Dreamweaver software, and now the proud Microsoft is starting to learn the benefits. Click view → tracing image → settings on the menu bar, in the pop-up dialog box, select the specified image, and then set its coordinates (that is, the location displayed on the design page). Finally, set the transparency, and then confirm it. This tracing image is only displayed in the Design view of FrontPage 2003 and will not be displayed on your finished page.

3. Layer function

In the past, one of the most missing features of FrontPage was the inability to use layers like Macromedia Dreamweaver. And the application of the layer is already indispensable in the Web page production. Fortunately, FrontPage 2003 finally supports this feature.

Click "Insert → layer" on the menu bar to display a layer that defaults to "Layer1" on the current page. Drag the mouse over each node, adjust its size, then place the cursor insertion point in the layer, and enter the text you want (Figure 2). In addition, positioning the cursor within the layer and selecting "Layer Properties" in its right pop-up menu, you can set the ID, border and shading style, margins, and positioning style and position parameters on the task pane on the right side of the interface.

4. Insert Interactive button

Click on the "Insert → interactive button" on the menu bar to pop up the dialog shown in Figure 3, and in the Buttons tab, set the text, style, and link for the button. Set its related options in the Font tab page. Finally, we switch to the "Image" tab, set the hover image and the mouse button when the image and so on.

5. The application of the behavior

Behavior has always been a Dreamweaver strength, and FrontPage2003 now has this function.

Click "format → behavior" on the menu bar, see the "Behavior" pane on the right side of the interface, click the "Insert" down arrow button, and in the pop-up menu you can choose to play sounds, pop-up messages, invoke scripts, and pop-up menus. After you select the specified Insert object, the appropriate Settings dialog box pops up, where you want to operate. All added behavior events are displayed in the list.

Small knowledge: Behavior is a combination of events and actions triggered by the event. Because the code of behavior is the JavaScript code for the client, it triggers the event without the support of the server.

6. Use Web Redirection

In FrontPage 2003, click on the menu bar "tools → Chinese translation → insert redirect Code", in the pop-up dialog box, set the simplified page URL and the traditional page URL. Then, the inserted code will be automatically turned on through the browser's detection of the support language.

7. Check page error

Click on the menu bar "tools → accessibility", in the pop-up dialog box to set the scope of the check, content and display objects, and then click the "Check" button. With this feature, you can quickly find out if the specified Web page has errors and see where the problem is.

8. Optimize HTML code

The FrontPage series used to be pretty bad at code efficiency, often generating a lot of junk code. And in FrontPage 2003, click "tools → optimize html" on the menu bar, pop Up the dialog box shown in Figure 4, in which you can choose to delete objects, including annotation content and blank information, so as to remove a lot of garbage code, improve the efficiency of Web page code execution, "lose weight" for the Web page.

9. Planning Page Layout

A successful design work, most need to plan and design the layout in advance, in order to control the content of the macro. In Dreamweaver, the page layout view has been added from its 4.0 version to make it easier for designers to design page layouts, and now FrontPage 2003 has this feature.

Click table → layout tables and cells on the menu bar to display the corresponding property settings in the right-hand pane of the program. We focus on the table layout Drop-down list, where there are several layout styles to choose from. When we choose a suitable application on the current page, you can adjust its layout style at any time in Design view as needed.
