GitHub for the first time

I. Registration

Log on to the GitHub official website https://github.com/, for example:

GitHub registration is similar to other websites. You can complete registration by entering the user name, password, and email address.
After registration, you are a GitHub user. If you need to hostCodeYou also need to create a repository. There are two ways to create a repository: Go to the GitHub website or create a repository on the client. Let's first look at how to install the GitHub for Windows client.

Ii. Install the GitHub for Windows Client

There is a large button at the bottom of the home page of the GitHub official website. Click it to download GitHub for Windows, and install it after the download (It seems to be an online installation, so you need to ensure that the Network is smooth ). The installation process is a dumb and I have nothing to say.

3. Create a warehouse
As mentioned above, there are two ways to create a repository:
1. Create a repository through the website

After logging on to GitHub with your username and password, you will have a "create a repository" in the lower-left corner. Click here to create a repository and enter the repository name and brief description, click OK.

If a repository has been created through the website, how should we use the following questions?

We will immediately say that, after installing the GitHub for Windows client in step 2, you will be asked to enter the user name and password for the first running, after logging on to GitHub, the list of existing repository names is displayed. A clone button is displayed next to each repository name. Click this button to copy the repository on the GitHub website to your local device.Note that by default, it is copied to the local c: \ Documents ents and Settings \ Administrator \ My Documents \ GitHub \ repository name directory.The strange thing is that when you clone the clientProgramYou are not prompted to specify the clone path (this is not a bug ?). In fact, this path can be set. In
Tools-> options..., the following dialog box is displayed. Modify the default path as needed. In this way, when you clone and download again, it will be saved in the specified default path by default. Therefore, you must set the default storage path before cloning.

2. Create a repository on the client

There is a create button at the top of the client interface. Click it. The following dialog box is displayed. Enter the repository name and brief description, and set the appropriate storage path based on the actual situation. Click the create button to create the repository.

4. delete a repository (or project)
Do not worry about using it for the first time, or fight against yourself. Like you, 99% of people are crossing the river by feeling the stones for the first time. Therefore, if we want to use GitHub more skillfully, we will inevitably go through some practical exploration. During the exploration, we will inevitably create some temporary or just for testing warehouses, what if we want to delete these repositories that are no longer needed?

There is a solution! After logging on to the GitHub account, click your account name, and then click the name of the repository to be deleted. After the webpage is opened, there is a Settings button at the bottom of the right, as shown in:

Click settings in the lower-right corner. At the bottom of the page, there is a "delete this repository" button, as shown in:

Click. A dialog box is displayed, asking you to confirm whether to delete the alarm.

Click OK to delete the selected repository.
