Google adjusts the search engine algorithm: HTTPS websites rank higher
Google posted an announcement on its official blog that it has adjusted its search engine algorithm. websites using HTTPS encryption will rank higher in the search results.
Google said it has tested whether the target website uses the Security Layer in the past few months. The goal is to encourage websites around the world to adopt HTTPS with higher security to ensure visitor security. Google said in its blog that security is one of the top priorities of the company. In addition to ensuring the security of Google services, making the entire Internet more secure is also one of Google's goals.
Google said it would provide best practices for adopting HTTPS in the next few weeks. The recommended basic practices include determining the certificate type, using a 2048-bit certificate, and using a relative URL for resources in the same security domain. If the website has implemented HTTPS, Google provides the Qualys Lab tool to test its security level and configuration, as well as TLS performance testing to assess the impact of security on performance.
So far, the proportion of search results affected by algorithm adjustment does not exceed 1%, which indicates that the weight of HTTPS relative to content quality and other factors is not high. However, due to Google's huge influence on website traffic, it is believed that this policy adjustment will make other websites make efforts to improve web security.
