Google Chrome-> browser wars-> chaotic web development

The news of the IT session in the past two days should be Google's Chrome browser. You can find the download link on the Google homepage. I don't quite understand why it's called chromium. Who can explain the source?

Out of curiosity, I tried it. Of course, the current Web Browsers Do not feel anything special. Later, I found an article on Google's Chinese Blog about chrome features in my shrimp capture subscription. You can check out this article.ArticleIt also mentions the competition issue.

I personally use IE7 most now. This should also be the mainstream web browser. In addition, as a backup, I will install a Firefox. Firefox is quite good, but in some cases it is not as good as IE. For example, it is difficult to install the plug-in ff. Although there are articles on the Internet that introduce manual modification methods, but I didn't try it. Forget it, and I don't want to waste it any more. In addition, for example, some online banking may use ActiveX plug-ins, so ...... In addition, some applications integrated with other Windows products, such as Outlook Web Access, can only be best integrated with IE. Of course, even if I am not a professional web developer, I understand that these things have no technical problems, the development of such plug-ins in browsers like FF should not be too problematic technically, but who calls ie the default installed browser on Windows and has the highest market share? When development resources are limited, any organization will certainly choose to implement functions in IE first.

In addition, the problems with web standards are also obvious. Many websites, especially those that are fancy and even allow users to customize styles (such as CSS), often cannot be compatible with multiple browsers at the same time. In general, the situation I encountered is normal in IE. Of course, this does not mean that IE must be better and more standardized. I think the main reason is that most tests for web development are carried out in IE, so even if IE is not standard, it is also a de facto standard.

However, Microsoft needs to be criticized. The development of new ie versions is a little lagging. I have used beta1 and beta2 in IE8 some time ago, but the results are the same, but I unmount it in one day and change it back to IE7. The reason is very simple. IE8 is too unstable, and crash will be triggered if it is a bit windy ......

back to the problem of chromium, the usage for the time being is not bad, but there are not many real killer apps, Or I haven't found out yet? Perhaps, the development of Web browsers has reached a bottleneck stage. Small improvements are easy, and great innovations are rare. So now I am looking forward to the question: who can create a web browser that everyone cannot think?
