According to foreign media reports, the Research Institute iSuppli recently said that Google's upcoming free network storage space may be as high as 50 GB.
Google's network storage space will reach 50 GB
At the end of November, it was reported that Google would launch the network storage service, allowing users to store files on Google servers on local computers. This service is free of charge, but users can get a larger storage space if they are charged.
In this regard, Krishna Chander, senior analyst at iSuppli, believes that compared with hard drive manufacturers such as Seagate, virtual hard drive services are more profitable. This service is very practical for users. It is also tempting for Google.
Currently, both Yahoo and Microsoft provide network storage services, but most of them cannot meet the individual needs of enterprises. In addition, the storage space is only about 5 GB. But Chander predicts that Google will provide up to 50 GB of storage space for free.
By selling ads on the Storage Service website, Google can make a big profit. Chander predicts that 4.2 million users will deploy Google's online storage service. Assume that Google receives $50 in advertising revenue from each user each year, the annual revenue is as high as $0.21 billion.
As for Google's cost, Chander says the cost per GB is about 25 cents. Google needs to deploy 210,000 TB of storage space at about $52.5 million.
