Gsm
Global System of mobile communication is the most widely used mobile phone standard in the world. GSM is considered to be the second generation mobile communication standard (2G), while it is an open standard, currently developed by 3GPP.
Gprs
Universal Packet Wireless Service technology (General Packet Radio Service), which is a mobile data service available to GSM mobile phone users. GPRS can be said to be the continuation of GSM, known as "2.5G", that is, between the second generation and three generations of mobile communication technology. GPRS access rate in theory, the fastest can reach 171.2kbps.
EDGE
The enhanced data Rate GSM evolution technology, which is also a GSM to 3G transition technology, can make full use of the existing GSM resources and is better than GPRS, so it is called "2.75G" technology, The theoretical rate is up to 473.6kbps.
Nutshell:
1, GSM is 2G network, GPRS belongs to 2.5G Network, Edge belongs to 2.75G network.
2, Unicom has no e-net, mobile e-Net
3, GPRS network distribution than edge network wide
4. Only mobile phones that support e-net can use e-nets on mobile phones.
5, E-Net is not covered everywhere, so there is no e-net on the phone don't make a fuss
6, E Network faster than the G-net speed
3GPP
is the leading 3G technical specification organization, was founded by the European ETSI, Japan's arib and TTC, Korea's TTA and the United States T1 at the end of 1998, aimed at developing and promoting the development of the GSM core network based on the 3G standard, namely Wcdma,td-scdma,edge, and so on. China Wireless Communication Standards Group (CWTS) joined 3GPP in 1999.
