In some cases, we don't need to print some of the rows of an Excel worksheet. For example, a row that contains confidential information, or a row that contains the results of an intermediate calculation.

At this point, we can hide the rows and then resume the display after we print the worksheet. If your worksheet contains many rows that you don't need to print, hiding and resuming the work will be more time-consuming and laborious.

Here is a quick way to switch the hiding and displaying status of a line, and using this technique will greatly improve the efficiency of hiding and displaying nonprinting lines. This technique is mainly used in the "Group and Outline display" feature of Excel.

As shown in Figure 1, we will take this worksheet as an example to practice, where lines 5th, 10, and 15 do not want to be printed.

The specific steps are as follows.

1. Select Line 5th, select menu command "Data | Group and Outline | Combination" (or press the shortcut key alt+shift+ the right ARROW key), as shown in Figure 2.

At this point, the markup shown in Figure 3 appears on the left side of Line 5th, and 1 and 2 appear on the top left of the worksheet, which is the outline symbol. Click the display symbol at a level to hide or display the next level of detail. What we're going to take advantage of is this feature of the outline notation.

2. Select line 10th, press F4 key. The function of the F4 key is to repeat the last command. Here also can press alt+shift+ right direction key, just not as quick as F4.

3. Select Line 15th, press F4 key. The worksheet is now shown in Figure 4.

4. Click the outline symbol 1 in the upper-left corner to hide the 5th, 10, 15 lines, and the worksheet should now look like Figure 5.

With the above, we can quickly hide the lines that don't need to be printed, and then click the outline symbol 2 to restore the display when the print is finished.

Tip: alt+shift+ The right ARROW key is actually a row down a level, if you want a row to ascend a level, you can press the shortcut key alt+shift+ left arrow, or select the menu command "data | Group and Outline | Ungroup."
