IEEE 802. Because of its convenience and scalability, 11b Wireless LAN is especially suitable for small office environments and home networks. In the indoor environment, there can be different typical solutions for different situations.

1. Peer-to-peer Solutions

Peer-to-peer solution is one of the simplest applications, as long as each computer to install a wireless card, you can access each other. If you need to connect to a wired network, you can install a wired network card for one of the computers, and other computers in the wireless network use this computer as a gateway to access the wired networks or shared printers and other devices.

But Peer-to-peer solution is a point-to-point solution, the computer in the network can only be one to one another to communicate information, but not at the same time for multiple access. If you want to achieve interoperability functions like a wired LAN, you must use an access point.

2. Single access point solution

An access point is equivalent to a hub in a wired network. The wireless access point can connect the peripheral wireless network terminal, form the star network structure, simultaneously connects with the wired network through the 10BASE-T port, causes the entire wireless network terminal to be able to access the wired network resources, and can access the Internet through the router.

3. Multiple Access point Solutions

When the size of the network is larger than the coverage radius of a single access point, multiple access points can be connected to a wired network to form a wireless network with multiple access points as the backbone of a wired network, and all wireless terminals can access the network through the nearest access point, thereby breaking the limit of the coverage radius of the wireless network.

4. Wireless Relay Solutions

There is another use for wireless access points, which serves as an extension of the wired network. For example, in the factory workshop, the workshop has a network interface connected to the cable network, and the workshop many information points because the distance is very far from the network cabling cost is very high, there are some information points due to the surrounding environment is relatively bad, can not be routed. 5. Wireless Redundancy Solutions

6. Multi-cellular roaming working mode

When deploying a wireless network in a building or in a large plane, multiple access points can be arranged to form a micro-cellular system that is very similar to a cellular phone's micro-cell system. The micro-cellular system allows a user to roam the area within a different access point, and as the location changes, the signal is automatically switched from one access point to another access point. The entire roaming process is transparent to the user, although the access point that provides the connection service has switched, but the service to the user is not interrupted.
