InstallShield User Guide

Installshield is a widely used installation method.ProgramMake software. You can use it to create Professional-level installation programs. However, its disadvantage is that it is cumbersome to use and makes beginners daunting.

The following uses InstallShield Professional Standard Edition 6.30
The English version is used as an example to explain how to use it. Because you have not yet obtained its Oriental Language Pack, it may be a problem during installation. You can download InstallShield here

After Installshield is started, see

Select "new project" to open the new project.

Select "Project Wizard" as the Project Wizard. Add the project name below

Add basic project information

Select a language. Because there are no other language packs, only English is available. Language packs need to be purchased separately

Select a component. Some programs allow you to install some or all of them.

You can press "RENAME" to modify the component name.

For convenience, only one component is created.

Select a file group. The selected component is for ease of management and does not correspond to actual installation files. The file group here is the true file group for you.

Here we create three file groups of our own.

Note that the prompt Section on the right of the file group window Indicates the position of the file in a file group relative to the installation directory (targetdir ).

Is the window for setting the directory structure. "Application target folder" indicates the installation directory of the program.

Next, select the location of the file to be packaged.

Select the correct file group and the file location of the file group.

The following describes the relationship between the specified component and the file group. In fact, it is used to select the files in a certain component.

Since we install all the files, we put all the file groups under one component.

If you have other objects, you can also connect them, but they are generally unavailable.

The following is a window for creating Desktop shortcuts and program groups.

A desktop shortcut and a program group are created here.

Note: you can write the directory or startup program name at <targetdir>.

Next, select the window that appears during the installation process. You can remove useless windows.

The following is the statistics

Click "finish" to start compiling your installation program. The following is a pop-up window during compilation. You can see, close it

The following is the compilation result: 0 error, 0 warning. Everything OK

Note: Some programs have special requirements. For example, the startup file and the files required by the program are not in the same directory. Therefore, you must note the following:

The installation directory is under Program Files \ 'Company name' \ 'product name' by default. It seems very difficult to modify, so I have to modify it directly. If you know anything better, please let me know
