It may be surprising to many Windows platform users that a recent survey by Avecto of 100 CIOs and 1000 workers found that 76 of the business market now uses MAC devices directly or indirectly, up 5 from 71 a year earlier. Despite the increase in market share, the report shows that business people's confidence in MAC security features has fallen from last year, as usage has increased.
The main reason for the decline in confidence has been the emergence of a number of malicious programs against MAC platforms over the past year, with 40 of the chief information officers involved in the survey saying that the Wirelurke series of viruses that raged last year shook their trust in the Mac platform.
In addition, 28 of respondents said the MAC was more secure than the Windows system, while 18 per cent of the respondents stood on the opposite side.
Paul Kenyon, vice president of Avecto, said that "the misconception that MAC is more secure than Windows PC has long been known." But no matter what the way the organization must realize that MAC and other devices are no different, they also need to fix vulnerabilities.
