Keynote How to use paragraph styles

Source: Internet
Author: User

Keynote includes built-in paragraph styles for a variety of specified text fonts, font sizes, colors, and other properties. These paragraph styles are designed to match the theme of the presentation. Applying a paragraph style to text ensures that the text in your presentation looks the same.

If you make changes to text that uses paragraph styles, you can create a new paragraph style based on the changes you make. For example, if you change a paragraph that uses the subtitle style so that the text is blue and bold, rather than plain black text, you can create a new paragraph style that integrates your changes (subtitle 2). You can then easily apply the new style to other text in your presentation.

The "note" Keynote also contains built-in character and list styles. These styles are similar to paragraph styles, and the following tasks include methods that apply to character and list styles.

Apply paragraph Styles

1, select the text or shape that contains the text you want to change.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click the top of the panel, and then choose a style from the paragraph style menu.

Create a new paragraph style

1, select the text you want to use to create a new paragraph style.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

3. Click on the top of the paragraph style pop-up menu.

4, enter the name of the new style, and then click outside the menu to close the menu.

Assign a shortcut key to a style

You can assign a shortcut key (F1-F8) to a paragraph, character, or list style.

1. In the text panel of the format checker, do one of the following:

For paragraph styles: Click the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

For character styles: Click the character style pop-up menu.

For list styles: Click the Bullets and lists pop-up menu.

2. In the pop-up menu, move the pointer over the name of the style you want to assign the shortcut key to, and then click.

3, select "Shortcut Keys", and then select the key.

The shortcut key is now displayed next to the style name in the menu for easy reference.

To use a shortcut key, select the text, and then press Fn and your shortcut key (for example, F1).

To remove a shortcut key assignment, choose None from the shortcut menu.

Remove changes from paragraph styles

When you change the formatting of text that has paragraph styles applied, an asterisk appears next to the style name at the top of the text panel of the format checker. This asterisk indicates that the original style of the selected text has been modified. If you do not want to keep the changes (Overrides), you can undo the original style.

1. Click on the cover paragraph.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click Next to the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

3. Click the name of the style (it has a gray Shilai to represent the overlay).

Overrides will be cleared, and the text will be restored to its original style.

Update paragraph Styles

If you change formatted text that has a paragraph style applied to it, you can update the style to reflect the changes you made. You can use the new paragraph style to format other text.

In most cases, if the style can be updated, you can see the Update button near the style name at the top of the text panel. Click the button to update the style. If you see an asterisk next to the style name, you can still update the style.

1. Click the paragraph that uses the style you want to update.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

3, in the Paragraph style menu, move the pointer over the style name (with a tick), and then click the arrow that appears.

4, choose "Update Style".

Copy and paste text styles

You can copy only the style of the selected text and apply the style to other text.

1, select the text, and choose Format > Copy style (from the Format menu at the top of the computer screen).

2, select the other text you want to apply the style to, and then choose Format > Paste style.

If you copy text and want it to match the style of the text you want to paste into, choose Edit > Paste and Match Style (from the Edit menu at the top of your computer screen).

Rename a style

1. Click the paragraph that uses the style you want to rename.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

3, in the Paragraph style menu, move the pointer over the style name (with a tick), and then click the arrow that appears.

4, select Rename the style, and enter the new name.

Delete a style

You can delete unused styles from your presentation. If the style is in use, you can specify its replacement style.

1, click any text.

2. In the text panel of the Format checker, click the paragraph style name at the top of the panel.

3, move the pointer over the name of the style you want to delete, and then click the arrow that appears.

4, choose "Delete Style".

If you try to delete a style that you are using, you will be asked to select a style to replace the style you want to delete.
