Microsoft App-v 4.5 serialization tool with experience

When using serialization tools, to simplify management and facilitate later additions or deletions of serialized software, you need to be aware of the following issues:

(1) Install in a separate folder for each software, and the length of the folder conforms to the 8.3 rule, for example, you can install Office 2007 in the Office.2k7 folder in Q disk and office 2003 installed in the Q-disk Office.2k3 folder, the WPS 2007 is installed in the wps2007 folder.

(2) When installing, choose "Custom Install", choose the installation path (q disk), and select the products you want to use, for example, for Office Enterprise Edition, you can choose to install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so on. For each product, it is best to choose Full installation, for example, when you install Office 2007, for Word, to fully install components such as Word.

(3) When using the serialization tool "encapsulation", save directly to the shared file provided by the app-V server, and specify the path. For each product, specify a different path. For example, for Photoshop 7.1 in the following illustration, installed in the Q Disk ps.711 folder, when the serialization is encapsulated, in the "Protocol" list, select RTSP, in the "host name" In the text box, type the NetBIOS name for the app-V server (in this case, App-V), type ps.711 in the path, and click the Save button, and in the dialog box that pops up, select the share that is provided by the app-V server (in this case, \\app-v\content). and create a folder named Ps.711, as shown in Figure 1.

Then, in file name, type the name of the saved package, such as PHOTOSHOP7.

After encapsulation, if you want to update the package, for example, you want to update Office 2003 to SP3. You can follow the steps below:

(1) In the serialization tool, click the File menu and choose Open Package upgrade, as shown in Figure 2.

(2) Browse the \\app-v\content folder and open the Office2003.sprj under Office.2k3, as shown in Figure 3.

(3) In the Tools menu, select the Serialization Wizard, as shown in Figure 4.
