With the increasing amount of information on the Internet, the general search methods have gradually become weak. How can we find the desired results more accurately? Microsoft is currently developing a Q & A Social search tool. We are expected to meet you in the coming months.
Justin osmer, Senior Product supervisor of Microsoft MSN, said that using this tool, users directly submit the problem to a relevant community, rather than searching online information by the general meaning search engine, returns a result list page. Microsoft will make the search results more accurate by leveraging the advantages of over 400 millon's large registered users of MSN and Hotmail. At present, the official Microsoft hasn't disclosed the name of such a tool, but Justin says this is definitely a big project that Microsoft is working on. (However, some insiders said that this tool may not be developed by Microsoft itself, because Microsoft once acquired eurekster.com, which focuses on social search, but Microsoft declined to comment on it)
According to the data provided by Microsoft, about 50% of the search results on the Internet are currently invalid. Microsoft also hopes to use this new search tool to increase its share in the search market, nielsen/netratings data shows that the market share of Microsoft MSN (now live) search in the United States has declined to 11%, lagging behind Yahoo and Google in the third place.
Yahoo Bradley Horowitz (Vice-President of Advanced Products) recently said that since Google launched the web page ranking system, there has been no new breakthrough, yahoo launched its own Yahoo Answers not long ago, leading the way in social search. In fact, Google is not completely irrelevant. Google launched Google base to allow users to publish their own content to search for others.
