In a MindManager mind map, you can use an inline browser to open a hyperlinked document, and office compatibility makes it possible to hyperlink Office documents, but what happens when an Office document that MindManager an inline browser cannot edit a hyperlink? This article is for you to answer.
Problem Description: When you open a hyperlinked Office document, such as Excel, Word, or PowerPoint, the user tries to edit the text, which displays a warning message that the file is read-only. The user does not have permission to modify the file.
The following information shows:
Microsoft Excel: The grid or table in the table is protected and the hint is read-only.
Microsoft Word: This document is protected from changes that are not made by an unconscious editor. (will ask password to unlock).
Microsoft PowerPoint: This file will only open in the browser as read-only.
Problem analysis: The phenomenon is pre-set. The purpose of the edit permission for the hyperlink file is to avoid the file being opened at the same time in MM's browser and outside the MindManager. If you can allow modifications when you open the file inside the MindManager, there will be a conflict with the same file outside.
Workaround: You can edit Office documents in two ways:
1. You need to add the document in the form of an attachment to the guide map. MindManager allows editing in a nested browser, including attachments.
2. Open the document outside the MindManager. Right-click the hyperlink and select: "Open Hyperlink Outside of MindManager" to open the hyperlink outside of MindManager.
Note: If you want to open the hyperlink document outside MindManager as the default mode setting, you can go to the MindManager toolbar's home > Hyperlinks and then use built-in Browser for HYP Erlinks "option is canceled.
