Wave Device for voice Modem

Symptom: "Wave Device for voice modem" always occurs during Windows 95 detection, which makes me particularly troublesome. Why? How can this problem be solved?

Method: difficult to solve. You can try the driver from the manufacturer.

Note: Please request the driver from the manufacturer. However, even with the driver, Windows 95/98 does not support identification of the driver, and cannot solve the problem. Generally, you only need to complete the installation if the installation is difficult. This will not affect the normal use of modem.

ISA built-in modem cannot be installed

Phenomenon: Someone else gave me a built-in Kbps modem card, and I had to pay for it and didn't install it successfully. Is it a bad Win 95 system?

Method: Check for the conflict. "Add new hardware ".

Step: Check for conflicts: Select "my computer", "Control Panel", "Device Manager", and "modem" to see if there is a yellow exclamation mark or question mark. If yes, check its resource usage and modify its usage or the resource usage of devices in the "device conflict list. If you cannot modify the resource usage, unplug the card and change the jumper on the card.

Add new hardware: Select "my computer", "Control Panel", "add new hardware", and add the device as prompted.

Note: The built-in modem is difficult to install, but most of the above methods can be used. The former can solve the problems of modem interruption, DMA channel and I/O address occupied by other devices. The latter can solve the fault where the motherboard does not support PNP or the PNP function is not complete. The final trick is to first copy the system resources occupied by com2, and then disable com2 in BIOS setup, you can manually set modem resources to com2. PCI built-in modem cannot be installed

Symptom: The new built-in PCI bus modem cannot be installed. It can be used on other computers.

Method: Unplug other plug-in cards on the motherboard (except the display card and modem card ).

Step: Shut down And unplug all the cards except the display card and modem card on the motherboard. After the device is turned on, check whether the modem card can be used. Symptom: Why can't I detect the modem in Win 95? Should I replace it with WIN 98?

Step: perform multiple checks: The computer serial port may be damaged. You can place the mouse on this serial port. If you can use it properly, it indicates that the serial port is good. Otherwise, the serial port may be broken or the serial port is disabled in BIOS.

If the modem is not powered on or the original cable is not used, Win 95 cannot detect it.

Note: card-type modem cannot detect more possibilities, and has a relationship with the motherboard and system. You can try to upgrade Windows 98. Symptom: Someone else gave me a modem card, saying it was removed from a famous computer. How can I set it correctly when I am not clear about the brand model of the modem card? Because I have used the standard method, but still cannot use it.

Symptom: I bought a built-in modem and encountered a problem after running the DOS 6.0 double space program.

Method: Process DOS and Windows users separately.

Note: This is a complex fault. A more comprehensive check is: Is the analog (standard) telephone line on the wall connected to the modem's "line" or "telco" interface? Check the required DTR operations in the manual. Does the software have the automatic response function? Is the hardware switch of modem related to DTR correct? Red X before COM

Symptom: The Device Manager cannot contain a yellow symbol. My computer was good, but someone tried a modem here (and then took it away ), there is a red X symbol in front of com2 in Device Manager, which is more serious than the yellow symbol.

Method: Open the com2 port in setup.

Step: Press del to enter setup, and select "intergrated peripherals", "onboard serial port2", and "enabled ".

Note: If the com2 port is detected in win 9x, The com2 port is set to red X. It must be that the person testing the modem uses the built-in modem. During installation, the com 2 interface is set to disabled, but the setup setting is not restored when the modem is installed.
　　

Dialing connection error (telephone line connection error)

Symptom: After you click "Connect", a dial-up connection error window is displayed, prompting that a dial-up connection cannot be established. Go to "Dial-Up Network" and check whether the connection is correct. Error 680: no dialing sound. If you do not hear the dialing voice, you can still call normally.

Method: Switch the telephone lines inserted in the two telephone ports behind the modem.

Note: It is suspected that the devices will not be damaged if the two telephone lines of the modem are reversed. This is a typical example of reverse connection. "No tone" error occurs in some English software.

Note the minimum hardware configuration in the modem specification. Soft modem is not suitable for CPUs smaller than 586/100.
