Neon Effect Advertising Map production

Today, we learn this tutorial on how to make neon effects in photoshop text. There may be a lot of people who have seen this tutorial before, but what I'm saying is that absolutely not every method of effect is stereotyped. Indeed, the use of technology also requires inspiration. We still have a lot of ways to go on this road.

　First, the production background

To make the text of the neon effect, first we have to talk about the background. The background must be dark, why? I've talked about principles in the production of Abstract Light series (i). Everyone is interested to have a look.

Create a new 1920px*1080 file, which is the size of the Mac. This is the best size when we do a scrolling web page of the ad map. However, the specific size, still depends on the actual needs of your project.

Fill a black background layer, and then create a new layer. Set the foreground color to black, the background color to white, and go to filter > Render > Cloud to add clouds to the layer. If the cloud does not work at once, you can also use the shortcut key combination "Ctrl+f" to repeat the operation several times.

Create a new layer above the cloud layer, use the gradient tool, and set a radial gradient of blue (#15aec4) to Black (#000000) (the blue here is the main color I use in this example, you can refer to it, or you can use your own color). When the gradient layer is done, adjust the layer blending mode of the gradient layer to "multiply".

After a positive overlay, the style is as follows:

Now let's copy this layer again (CTRL+J) out of two layers, one blending mode to "overlay", the top of the layer, the other layer above the original layer, blending mode unchanged.

Then, with the free transform tool, the top layer is shortened to two-thirds of the original size, and the other layer is shortened to the original One-third. This is to create an environment of three-dimensional, so, not only our main object of the background needs color effect, but also have the feeling of reflection. So, to literally understand the students who are still not very clear, you can look at the picture below.

By this step, the background is finished. You can put the above layer into the new group "background", and then continue to do the rest of the steps on top of the background.

　　Second, create neon effect text

Drag the good text ID into it, place it above the layer, and place it in the middle, just to the point where it stands at the boundary of the three-point effect background. This will make it look more stereoscopic.

Copy the identified layer one layer, and then temporarily turn off the duplicate layer. Add a blending style of gradient overlay to the identity layer. Gradient settings can refer to my color, of course, with the main color with the line, the angle of 0 linear gradient. After the gradient overlay and then add "Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur" to the layer, the blur size is 18px, the size of the main look at your logo size, so that the final effect as shown in the following figure.

At this point, you can open the duplicate layer just hidden, the duplicate layer first grid, hold down the CTRL key to select the layer, the purpose is to pull out the layer of the selection. Then go to "SELECT > Modify > Shrink" to shrink the selection by 2 pixels. Then turn the layer off, create a new layer in the selection, and fill it with white.

The purpose of our shrinking constituency is to create a finer mark than the original text, which I often use when creating a light effect, especially when the light effect is a finer strip shape, and the contraction of the top layer produces a concentrated effect.

Next, we add the Gaussian blur to the top layer, and the blur size is 2px.

And then, let's add a layer style to it, and first, I'll drop the opacity of this layer to 90%, and the padding down to 0. Next, I want to add the outer glow to it, the outer glow of the setting panel parameters are as follows:

Add a color overlay layer style, and the color overlay is white. When you are done, create a new group, add the layer to the group, and then change the group's blending mode to "color Dodge."

Some people say, color too much, look always seems not high-end, this is very good to do, find the first one has been Gaussian Blur 18px processed layer, and then superimposed a single color can be. In this PSD, can form the changeable color, the repetition usage is very high.

　　Third, the production of reflection

The effect of reflection has been very popular, the production method is also very simple. Let's brush up on it again. Place the text ID you just made into a new group, and then copy the group.

Use the free change tool to handle changes that are vertically flipped by the group. Move the flipped shape down to the position shown in the following figure.

This seems to have a reflection effect, but the reflection is too obvious. Use our masks to add masks to the reflection group. Select the black and white linear gradient tool to pull the black and white gradient on the mask. Remember the mask principle, black will be able to block the original image, the original image is not visible, white is restored to visible. This also creates a reflection of the kind of slowly to the bottom of the effect of the hidden. Because the reflection itself has a sense of transparency, we then reduce the transparency of the reflection layer by 60%

　Iv. Enhancing effects

Also want to enhance the visual effects, can match the cloud effect, increase the smoke brush (into my micro-disk download brush), if the smoke brush I provide is not satisfied with the brush texture in my favorites, you can go to the pen in my favorite folder there are many to provide a brush download site. On top of the background layer, under the text label layer, create a new group. Create a new layer within the group, and use a smoke brush to modify it freely. When decorated, use the white foreground color and change the layer blending mode to "overlay."

At this point you can also add some transparent white rectangles above the background layer, the transparency can be set very small, using the cross vision between transparency to create another effect. Copy a few more, and use masks, transparency to coordinate the overall effect.

You also need to add a shadow to the text, so you can't use the projection feature of the layer style. We can choose the Ellipse selection tool, at the bottom of the text label to select an oval, that is, add shadow place. Then feather 20px and fill it with black. Change the layer style of the shadow layer to soft light.

In the entire composition, I think the following section is too dark, so let's add a little stage effect. Add a layer above the background layer, using the just blue to black gradient, using the radial gradient method, pull a semicircle below. That is, place the blue gradient circle below. Then add a mask and just now we've talked about the way the mask was used, so here's the same approach, using a black and white gradient to decorate the gradient circle.
