Lab 1: Introduction to routers. Includes: Know the router, access the router through the console port, and access the router via Telnet.
First, the purpose of the experiment
1. The computer serial port and the router console port connection method;
2. Configure the router with the hyper-terminal software that comes with the Windows system;
3. Boot the router;
4. Configure the IP address of the router Ethernet interface and open the interface;
5. Configure the router's enable password and vty password;
Use of 6.Telnet Programs
Second, the experimental equipment and environment
Experimental hardware: Microcomputer, Cisco Real machine (including two routers, a two-layer switch, one three-layer switches)
Lab Software: Cisco Packet Tracer
Third, the experimental steps
1. The experimental topology diagram is as follows:
2. Specific experimental steps:
(1) boot.
Connect the computer COM1 port and the router's console port with the rollover line, and the router is powered on.
(2) Open HyperTerminal.
Open the HyperTerminal program from the start → programs → accessories → communications menu in the Windows. Enter a name in the name dialog box, such as "Router", and press the "OK" button. Select the COM1 port of the computer in the Connect using drop-down menu and press the OK button.
(3) Set communication parameters.
In the, click the revert to Default button to set the communication parameters for the HyperTerminal, and then click the OK button. Press the "Enter" key to see if a router prompt or other character appears on the HyperTerminal window, and if a prompt or other character appears, the computer is connected to the router so that you can start configuring the router.
(4) The router is powered on.
Power off the router, turn the power back on later, and observe the router's boot process as follows:
(5) Configure the Router Ethernet interface IP address.
The Router Ethernet interface IP address is: 172.16.120.1 (where 120 is three digits after the number) 255.255.255.0
(6) Configure the router password.
(7) Access the router via Telnet.
Open the DOS command-line window after configuring the IP address of the network card on the computer. First test the computer and route
The IP connectivity of the device, and telnet remotely. As shown below:
Iv. errors and analysis in the experiment
1. Initially, you cannot ping the router from the computer. Later after careful search for fault, found that the router's IP is wrong, re-input, the problem is resolved.
Five, experimental experience and summary
1. The experiment was completed on time and in quantity.
2. Through this experiment I mastered the computer's serial port and the router console port connection method; Learn to configure the router with the HyperTerminal software that comes with the Windows system, and learn to boot the router.
3. This experiment has mastered the configuration of the router Ethernet interface IP address, enable password and vty password, master the use of Telnet program.
4. If the router cannot be ping from the computer. Follow these steps:
(1) Check whether the connection between the computer, switch and router is loose;
(2) Check whether the connecting line is a straight line;
(3) Check the computer network card and IP address is normal;
(4) On the router, check if the Ethernet interface is normal.
