NTOP Installation and Configuration

Production environment:

Operating system: Centos release 6.6 (Final)

Monitoring network traffic tool: ntop-5.0.1.tar.gz

tasks: compiling and installing ntop software

ntop is a monitoring network traffic tool, with ntop Display network usage is more intuitive and detailed than some other network management software.

1. Check the installation environment: Install the dependent packages

[[Email protected]]# yum–y Install libtool libpcap-devel gdbm-devel gdbm make Pango-devel GD

2. Install the required plugins

[Email protected]]# yum–y libpcap GeoIP RRDtool

3. Compile and install ntop

[Email protected]]# tar zxvf ntop-5.0.1.tar.gz

[[Email protected]]# CD ntop-5.0.1

[[Email protected]]# mv ntop-5.0.1 ntop

[[email protected]] #cd ntop

[[Email Protected]]#./autogen.sh–with-tcpwrap

[[Email protected]]# make && make install

4. Configure ntop

# Useradd NTOP

# password ntop

#cd/usr/local/ntop/var

#chown ntop:ntop ntop

#cpntop/packages/redhat/ntop.conf.sample/usr/local/ntop/etc/ntop/ntop.conf

#vim ntop.conf Note the following fields

--user ntop Run as ntop

--db-file-path/usr/local/ntop/share/ntop Data Storage Directory

--interface eth0 Monitored NIC

–-http-server 3000 Ports running

5. start ntop

#cd/usr/local/ntop/bin

#./ntop–d–p/usr/local/ntop/var/ntop

The NTOP default listener port is 3000, so you can enter http://117.40.239.9:3000 in the browser to view the NTOP monitor screen. Note: Be sure to turn on port 3000 on the firewall or you cannot access it.

[Email protected]]# wget http://cactiusers.org/downloads/ntop.tar.gz

Then open the Cacti management console and give the admin "view" ntop permission in the user management-admin-zone. Refresh the cacti and click the NTOP logo next to "console" to see the NTOP monitoring data. Visit: Http://117.40.239.9/cacti, you can view the following:

Summary:

Installation method:

1, can be installed through Yum, installation is simple, but for beginners, it is not recommended to use this method, the configuration will not do;

2, it is recommended to compile the installation, since the trouble, but the entire configuration and troubleshooting will be a great help.

Operating mode:

1, directly through the address: http://117.40.239.9:3000/

2, through the cacti platform operation: http://117.40.239.9/cacti/

Test results:

1, run slowly, do not know what reason.

2, the initial operation, unable to obtain comprehensive data, the collection of data has a buffer time process.

3, the proposed use of IE browser, 360 browser can not display graphics data.
