Owl Study Notes-No. 2

Web Ontology Language (OWL) is a network ontology language developed by W3C and used to describe the semantics of the ontology. Since owl is developed based on DAML + 0il for various needs, it is necessary to maintain compatibility with DAML + 0il/RDFS on the one hand, on the other hand, it is necessary to ensure a more powerful semantic expression capability and the deterministic reasoning of the description logic (DL, description logic). Therefore, w3C designers have developed three corresponding owl sub-languages for various feature requirements, namely, OWL Lite, owl dl, and OWL full, in addition, the expression capability of each sub-language increases [5].
OWL Lite is a sub-language with the weakest expression ability. It is a subset of the owl dl, But it ensures rapid and efficient reasoning by reducing the constraint of justice in the owl dl. It supports the base constraint, but the base value can only be 0 or L. Because of the weak expression ability of OWL Lite, it is easier to develop and support tools for it than the other two languages. OWL Lite is used to provide users who only need one classification level and simple constraints [6, 7].
Owl dl (description logic) regards deterministic reasoning ability and strong expressive ability as the primary goal, while ignoring the compatibility with RDFS. Owl dl includes all the language components of the owl language, but it must comply with certain constraints and be subject to certain restrictions. Owl dl provides the description logic reasoning function, which is the formal basis of owl.
Owl full contains all the language components of owl and removes the restrictions in owl dl. It extends RDFS to a complete Ontology Language and supports no computational guarantees) however, RDFS users with the strongest expression capability and full freedom are required [6]. In owl full, a class can be regarded as a collection of individuals or an individual. Because owl full removes the restriction on the passed nature of the base limit, it cannot guarantee deterministic reasoning.
