Photoshop and illustrator combine to create surreal mixed style posters

Sometimes, by combining elements created by multiple software, you get an effect that is beyond the reach of individual software. In this tutorial, I will show you how easy it is to create a surreal mix of artwork with the bold combination of Photoshop and illustrator.

Step 1

Start by creating a file that you think is the right size, and I say that because the elements in this design can easily match any size canvas. My choice is 1024x768 pixels, px/inch. Open PS, create a new layer filled with white, add material in the material to come in, adjust to your satisfaction with the location and size.

Now let's make some adjustments to the background material: we don't want something too fancy to draw the audience's attention away from the main element.

Use the Clone Stamp tool (S) to remove unwanted portions of the background material, such as stains underneath the canvas, which I dislike very much. When you finish cleaning, change the blending mode of the material to brightness, and then copy the layer (CTRL+J) where the material is located and change the blending mode to overlay, opacity 30%.

After the background is finished it is time to add the characters, I use the photos from the 123RF website, you can certainly change your favorite. Place the photo at the bottom of the canvas, adjust the appropriate size, name the layer "Kids", and then turn the blending mode to dimmed. You should notice that the white background of the picture disappears, leaving only the children and the ground.

Note: This is not a way to pull a picture, but it can be tricky when your image has a large area of white. If unfortunately your image does not have a large area of white background, you can only use the Pen tool (P), channel or other standard method to pull the map.
