1. Photoshop CS2 Stain Healing Brush
The stain healing brush first appeared in Photoshop Elements 3, but now its enhanced version is available in Photoshop CS2. The stain healing brush differs from the current patch tool and does not require you to select a selection or define a source point before using it. As you can see in the screenshot above, Photoshop CS2 's smudge repair tool has more options than the version in Photoshop Elements 3. You can choose a blending mode for the fix, and you can choose between approximate matching and creating textures. You can also select all layers that allow you to use the Smudge repair tool to perform lossless editing in a new layer.
2. Work with the Smudge Repair tool in Photoshop CS2
With the Smudge Repair tool, you simply click or drag on the flaw you want to remove, and the stain is eliminated. The retouching area is seamlessly blended into the surrounding environment--and most of the time. It just takes a little practice to get a feel and know how to combine the brush size with the repair work, but most of the time it's really impressive work.
