The so-called scene atmosphere is easy to understand. Just as you can imagine, under the midday sun, the sky is shining brightly, and the sun is burning on the ground. The bright moon is like a bright moon hanging up the night sky, full of Moonlight. In artistic creation, the scene atmosphere is derived from the design intent of the creator, and then directly manifested as the canvas layout, light design, and color matching. In this case, color matching is the core work content.

The layout of scenes in the same scenario is roughly fixed. To change the atmosphere of different scenes, you must adjust the light design and color configuration. We all know that each color represents a meaning, and sometimes even multiple meanings. The following figure shows red and blue. We generally think that bright red represents love and anger. Strong blue represents silence and sorrow, and their contrast is very big.

The most important thing in a scene atmosphere is layout, light, and color. Why is the color at the end? First of all, scenes need to be created. Scene layout is the basic carrier and premise of the scene atmosphere, so it is the most important. Secondly, when selecting a light-dark or color scheme, you need to first determine the weather condition of the scenario. When it is located in a day, the direction of the light source can be basically determined at this time, and the selection of color configuration will be affected. After the layout and light are processed, you can start the color test.

1. Create a scenario sketch

This pstutorial sets the scenario on the beach, and then converts the scenario at different times of noon, sunset, and night.

First, you must create a sketch map for the beach scenario. Create a 850*700 pixel canvas in Photoshop and set the resolution to 150pdi. Select the elliptical tool, draw a circle with a stroke of 1 pixel, create a new layer, and set it as a clipping mask of the circle layer. Draw the beach, crab, and sea water with a hard brush in the new layer. It can be noted that the scene is very small, which helps to focus on the changes in the sky and sea, so that the scene can be converted to a different time point of the day. After the sketch, we start coloring.

2. Draw the midday sun scene

Step 1

In order to make scene conversion simple, the basic color is first used for painting. By adjusting the layers at the end, it is easy to change the scene from sunshine to night. Divide each part of the scenario according to the color range and color it in different layers. This helps to quickly adjust the color effect and switch the scenario.

Remove the circle stroke, and right-click the layer thumbnail and select the grid layer. Select the Magic Wand tool, select a circle, and right-click and select inverse. When the selected area is still valid, click Create New Layer group. The Layer group is masked.

Drag the sketch layer into the layer group. The advantage of this is that the painting will not go out of bounds.

Step 2

Create a new layer for each part for painting, and name the layer based on the painting content, which makes it easier to manage. After naming, use a hard circle paint brush to draw the basic color of the contour of each part, and set the layer blending mode to soft light, so that the color and the sketch layer can be combined, then select the light color to color the content, so that the light intensity can be easily adjusted later.

For each detail section, a new layer is created as a clipping mask for this section, so that the color range is limited to this area. Set the first layer to the front pane and add a shadow to the scene. Because the scene is set to sunny noon, the light will be taken from the top, and the sun will not appear in the scene.

Collect materials from the network for reference and improve the lighting effect. Based on a color in the painting, refer to the materials to make the painting effect more realistic. Select the paint brush shown in the following figure from the preset paint brush to add textures to the beach, rocks, and leaves.

Continue to improve the lighting effect, add a new layer, and set it to overlay mode. The brightness of the beach, sea water, leaves, and Sky is increased on this layer.

Select a soft paint brush and add light clouds and waves to the sky and sea. For the Sky, brush strokes are set to scatter points while maintaining the line of the clouds. For the ocean, draw on the shore by breaking through the waves. When painting with a paint brush, try to soften the paint effect with a rubber gel.

The layer engraving details corresponding to each part. Select a circle paint brush with a hardness of 100% to make the outlines of each part clearer.

In reality, light is reflected to every corner. So make sure that the sea water and beach sand can reverse the light. You can add ripple in the sea water and add light points on the beach to show the effect of light.

Step 6

Add light in the sky to create the effect that the sun is hiding behind the clouds. Add a color search and adjustment layer. The settings shown in the following figure make the color brighter and warmer.

3. Create a Sunset West Photo scenario

Step 1

Next we will start to draw the sunset scene. As mentioned above, we will use the midday scene just drawn to convert it into a scene of different moments. Now the first thing is to change the lighting effect. Delete some layers of the scene you just created, and most of the highlights will disappear.

To save time, the tutorial will adjust the light effect based on the original scenario. First, adjust the illumination direction and add the base color. Add a new mask layer for each part, and then draw with a gradient tool to make the sea water calm, the beach texture is richer, and the leaves are darker like a silhouette.

Next we start to synthesize the sunset color. Create a new layer, and set it to the clipping mask of the sky layer. Select the gradient tool, set it to linear mode, and draw the sky according to the gradient effect from orange to purple. By simply unhiding the clouds and adding them to the pictures, it seems that the clouds are still falling behind by day.

To maximize the color and illumination effects, add a color search and adjustment layer on the top of the layer panel to make the screen more focused, as shown in the following figure. Select a layer mask and use a soft black brush to remove the warmth of the sky and the beach.

Add a gradient ing adjustment layer, select a color from the sunset, set the layer blending mode to color, and set the opacity to 30.

By constantly adjusting until the effect is satisfactory, I have added some color search layers and set them as follows.

Step 4

After the above adjustment, we began to look for a balance between each part. Add a new layer and set it to the overlay mode. Add some warm colors to the sky and sea water. Draw a bright sun and pay attention to setting the distance effect. Keep orange and white at the best intensity.

The sunset will bring a clear outline to each object, change the color of the sailing boat, and add a back to the crab, just like a giant.

Next I began to paint the sea water sunset effect. Now the scene atmosphere is much more calm than when the sun shines above, so the sea is focused on displaying the ripple effect in the sunset.

Just like above, draw a contour with a hardness of 100% paint brush to make the details clearer. Now the crab is a bit blurred and a little bright light needs to be added.

Add more light to the beach, sea water, and Sky. Keep the previous bright points so that the two pictures have the same style. The following figure shows the effect chart.

4. Create bright moon photos

Step 1

This is the last scene night, but it is not the least important. As in the previous scenario, Sunshine Beach is used as the basis for painting. This time, the bottom of the screen will be retained, but the top will be deleted and redone.

After removing the noon sky, you can add the night sky.

Step 2

Combine the Sky layers. Create a new layer, move it to the top of the sky layer, and set it as a clipping mask for the sky. Select the gradient tool to create a dark blue linear gradient effect, which creates a night curtain.

Step 3

To completely remove the original Sun, you need to use the color search and adjustment layer, so that the effect of the screen will change from warm to low-temperature quiet night.

The effect of the PS color search and adjustment is very obvious, and the color effect can be quickly adjusted. Add a color level adjustment layer, as shown in the following figure.

Step 4

Create a new layer and set it to the Plus part overlay mode. Use a soft paint brush to add shadow effects along the beach and leaves. The remaining position in the middle of the sky is the moon. When adding shadow effects to leaves and crabs after the position of the moon is reserved, note that the shadow direction should correspond to the Moonlight. The sailing boat is reflected in the moonlight, so the sailing boat remains at a distance from the beach.

The following is how to increase the moon. Create a new layer and set it to the overlay mode. Draw a bright moon in the dark night sky and draw a halo around the moon, as if every object is on the screen.

Just as before, add a contour with a hard paint brush to make the object clearer. Sand and sea water in the moonlight will also reflect soft light, so the waves and sand points out the highlights.
