Photoshop Synthetic one-legged fantasy style on a box

Step 1: Cut the picture

Cut pictures, mix backgrounds

Create a new file in Photoshop and drag the sky and Desert pictures into the file. Make sure the desert picture is placed above the sky picture. Now add a vector mask to the desert layer.

Press B on the keyboard (= Brush tool). Select a soft round brush and use black. Now make sure that the vector mask is valid (click on it) and smear it in the sky in the desert picture. (see chart below)

Now we're going to add the squares. Open the picture, press W (= Magic wand). Now just click on the black and the wand will choose it. Select > Reverse Selection. Thanks to this command, the box was easily chosen. Drag the box to our action document.

Cut the rest of the picture

Now we're going to cut out pictures of people, u and leaves. We will use the Lasso tool to achieve this. I know cutting is boring, but do the best you can. If the photo crop is not appropriate, it will affect the overall operation, the image does not look real.

Step 2: Mix

In this step we will mix squares and deserts, adding shadows underneath people's shoes and U-shaped objects.

Box

Let's start with the box. Click the square layer to add a vector mask. Press B on the keyboard. Use a dark gray round soft brush. The color of dark gray means that the transparency is lower than the black color.

Now smear those parts of the box that you think should be hidden in the desert. It should look like this when it's done:

If you want to do something more realistic, you can copy part of the desert (pictured below) and add it to the front of the box.

Shadows beneath the characters

Create a new layer below the character layer. Hold down the B key and select some small round brush (about 5px in diameter). Choose Black to reduce the opacity of the brush around 70%. Now start smearing around the character's shoes.
