If you are using music on an online Web site, we recommend that you first download it to your computer's hard disk drive and then insert it into PowerPoint.
Click the slide in which you want to start the sound file.
On the Insert tab, click Audio, and then click Audio on PC.
Locate and double-click the music file.
With the music file icon selected, on the Play tab, under Audio Tools, do one or more of the following:
To specify how you want to start the music in slide Show view, select On click or Auto.
Tip by selecting Auto, the music will start playing as soon as the slide is displayed.
To play the song so that it spans more than one slide in the presentation, select the Cross slide play box.
To play the same song again and again until you stop it, select the cycle play until stop box.
To hide the music icon during a slide show, select the Hide during Show box.
Note to reduce the size of the PowerPoint file, you can compress the audio files. To do this, on the File tab, click Info, and then click Compress Media. Next, select the desired audio quality and the compression will start automatically.
Important You can have more than one song in your presentation, but if you need continuous music, it can be tricky to reconcile the end of the song with the beginning. In this case, it is more convenient to use a third party audio editing software (such as audacity®) to string songs together into a sound file.
